I’ll continue to point out that Polk is a defensive liability at catcher.
2 passed balls already tonight, 1 of which scored a run just now.

Not Hollan’s night.
Wasn’t hitting his spots in the 1st and ended up getting out of a bases loaded jam.
Had two balls get absolutely tagged in the 3rd, one of which would’ve been a 3 run homer that Diggs robbed and the other ended up being a 3 run homer.
Through 3 he’s already thrown 60 pitches and given up 5 hits, 3 walks, and 5 runs.
Wasn’t hitting his spots in the 1st and ended up getting out of a bases loaded jam.

We've got four batters that I feel comfortable with at the plate. Actually, just three (currently) since Wegner's injured. The other five don't hit worth a shite.

My guess is that DVH is trying to shake things up at the bottom of the order to try to squeeze something out of that 8-9 spot and Rowland was the odd man out.
He’s been almost worse than Bolton at the plate lately, but he’s a better defensive catcher than Polk.

He really doesn’t need to see the field in an SEC game.
He’s not good at receiving and has more passed balls, isn’t as good at backpicking or catching guys stealing, and pretty bad at the plate.
Rowland isn’t going to make anyone forget Mike Piazza, but I trust him much more behind the dish.

That’s 2 he’s fricked up tonight.
Messed up a textbook DP ball in the 1st to extend the inning and they ultimately loaded the bases, and just messed up another one in the 4th.
ETA: and the next batter belts one up the middle to score the runner from 2nd.
