We have three HS shortstops committed for next year but they might all be draft risks, hopefully we can hold on to one. Coll could be back too but you rarely see Juniors return unless he just has zero interest like Slavens. Think we'd be fine with those two but if Coll leaves definitely need to hit the portal.

I'm curious to see how hard we recruit the portal since we have this great class coming but guess it just depends who ends up making it, plus it's hard to rely on freshmen either way because Neville, Jayson Jones and Stovall on paper should be our best players if you go by high school rankings. Doesn't always translate.

I figured they'd get a start at vandy then some play in the SEC tournament.

Well damn. DVH had hinted Wegner might be back at least.

ETA - seems like Josenberger might play but DVH said Wegner is “highly unlikely” to play. Also said Stovall is “not doing great” and probably won’t play this weekend.

Said Tygart is up to about 60 pitches, though.

Same. If we can just win 2 of the next 6 we've accomplished all we can in a season that matters which is locking up a national seed.

I think we can take USCe with the current guys. I sure would love to have Josey and Wegner for Vandy, though. Stovall I'm indifferent about.

Stovall's arm made him a liability at the plate.

DVH mentioned that it had affected his fielding and made him more tentative on his throws, but also that it was hampering his ability to swing the bat effectively (especially with it being his pull arm).

I understand, but Stovall wasn't exactly lighting it up pre-injury as well.

DVH on injured players:

"Josenberger's looking good. He worked out with us yesterday. He'll be out there again today. So he'll be on the roster again.

Don't disagree, but he was an animal in the postseason last year.

Hopefully the rest does him some good.

Good news.

By all accounts he's one of the most vocal leaders on this team, so even if he doesn't play he's a great presence in the dugout.

I think DVH rides the rotation of Smith, Tygart-McEntire, and Hollan through this weekend and next.

And then I hope we shut them down after Vandy and go into Hoover with a pitching staff comprised of grounds crew, bat boys, and some RBI girls. I’ll take 2-and-out in Hoover in order to get a few extra days of rest headed into the regional.

Let Bolton bat clean up. Bring in Ramage from whatever circus league he's in to raise my blood pressure one last time.

Preach brother, preach. I'll be happy to take the mound and get the team run ruled in the first inning if need be.
