Danny actually just said yesterday that he’s now been told that KB would count against the 29.

yes, for one year is what I believe.

But that is all we would have with him anyways. If, and it is a big IF we get him, it would probably help us on several fronts.
1. That he chose Arkansas, media hoopla etc.
2. Speed up our winning, and get more recruits who see what is going on.
3. Having KJ work behind him for a redshirt year. But, what happens then to Ty, Cajun boy, Nolan, Jones, etc?
4. Soothe some negativity Chad is having to deal with!

I’ve never heard D1 to D1 transfers especially veteran ones (grad, junior, senior) counting against the freshman/juco signing class. Typically after first two years everything is about the 85 but I bet they’re saying it will since 29 isnt the normal 25 spots and we will have so many signing/enrolling early.

Did they state why? Makes no sense why a grad transfer would count against an incoming class of freshman and jucos.

He didn’t and it makes no sense to me either. He just said he was told that from someone on the staff. I’ll try to see if I can find out more.

It counts against the 85, but not the class. We are taking 29 because we believe that # will put us at 85. So he counts for the 29 because it is a 1 for 1 schalorship transfer. If we do not get KB, we will take a LB, and hope a younger guy beats out ty.

Supposedly it all changed when the new transfer rule came in.

quote:

"15.5.6.3.4 Midyear Replacement. [FBS/FCS] A counter who graduates at midyear or who graduates during the previous academic year (including summer) may be replaced by an initial counter, who shall be counted against the initial limit either for the year in which the aid is awarded (if the institution’s annual limit has not been reached) or for the following academic year, or by a student-athlete who was an initial counter in a previous academic year and is returning to the institution after time spent on active duty in the armed services or on an official religious mission. In bowl subdivision football, an institution may use the midyear replacement exception only if it previously has provided financial aid during that academic year to the maximum number of overall counters (85 total counters). In championship subdivision football, an institution may use the midyear replacement exception only if it previously has provided financial aid during that academic year that equals the maximum number of overall equivalencies or overall counters. (Revised: 4/20/99 effective 8/1/99, 6/8/99, 4/26/01 effective 8/1/01, 8/2/05, 12/15/06, 1/14/08 effective 8/1/08, 4/2/10, 1/15/11)"

LINK

When it says “initial counter” or “initial limit”, I think it is talking about the 25 limit.

Word coming from MSU's camps that they lead for Kelly Bryant's services. I'm not sure how accurate. Just helping to spread the word, so we won't be alarmed if he doesn't play for the Hogs.

Rivals had an article yesterday that said Arkansas had the best percentage chance to land him. No one knows much but man would I love to land him.

Can we go grab Keytaon Thompson if State did land him. Surely he wouldn’t be happy with that grab. I’d love to see what that guy could do in this system.

Yeah if he goes anywhere else I'd put auburn and Mizzou ahead of miss state. Without Mullen that offense will not be the same as it's already proven this year

Moorhead aint no slouch offensively. He had PSU working like a machine with Barkley and McSorley.

Nick Fitz is just a one trick pony

This. Watch a Giants game. Their Oline is pathetic and they still move the ball because of him. The kid is special.

Now we just have to spend the next two months hoping all of these kids sign with us. We need a positive talent infusion like this in the worst way.

Does getting beat by 50 mean we get a 5 star recruit today?
