I think Hudson is the key to getting some of these other in state guys to jump on board. Please Lord let it happen.

I think so. He’s supposed to visit somewhere around there. Although Danny said yesterday that he’s supposed to announce his top 8 soon.

There is also a ton of seniors on this team. We could do better than expected with this schedule. We did go 4-8 last year though.

2 of those losses can be contributed to the previous coaching staff, after mid-october they were determined to miss a bowl game.

With the upcoming schedule, there is no excuse for the team to not find a bowl game, hell over half the D1 teams will qualify for a bowl game so it isn't really anything Arkansas should find themselves missing out on at anytime, especially at 3.5 mil a year.

Danny put in a CB for Bobby Wolfe yesterday. That would be huge if we could somehow steal him from A&M. All credit goes to Mark Smith on that one.

I question whether he sticks no matter who he picks June 30th.

Agreed. He’s due to commit another 1-2 times based off his track record. I’m just impressed that Smith even has us in it.

Razor...do you know if we’re recruiting Jadon Jackson as a WR at all or just CB? I just read an intro to an article about him on Rivals and it said he was narrowing his list to 5 soon and he’s decided that he’s only going to play WR.

Interestingly enough our 2020 WRs have more 5-11/6-0 size guys.

All of our top WRs targets in this 19 class are the 9 spot types. That is the big body WR that we lack throughout the roster.

This year seniors are Jared Cornelius, Gary Cross, Jonathan Nance.

Next year seniors are Chase Harrell (if I have his class correct), Brandon Martin, LaMichael Pettway, Deon Stewart.

Remaining on roster: Jordan Jones, Jarrod Barnes, Koilan Jackson, DeVion Warren, Michael Woods

Background on WRs

quote:

Morris uses numbers to designate the skill positions instead of letters.

The 3 is a tight end, the 4 is a running back and 2, 5 and 9 are receivers.

Typically, the 9 man is on the boundary side of the formation (the side closer to the sideline), the 5 man is in the slot and the 2 man is split wide on the field side. Obviously they can move around in various formations, but that is the base look.

-The 9 man is a bigger receiver who can win in one-on-one situations. That is the position Courtland Sutton played at SMU and DeAndre Hopkins, Martavis Bryant and Mike Williams played at Clemson.

-The 5 man is also a bigger receiver because he is asked to run a lot of crossing routes and routes in the middle of the field, making him susceptible to big hits.

-The 2 man is your speedster. He can line up in the backfield and is also used on fly and jet sweeps. Trey Quinn was this position at SMU last season and guys like Sammy Watkins and Adam Humphries played it at Clemson.

We lack speed throughout but have far more undersized WRs that fit the 2 spot than especially 9 and depth at 5.

If he only plays WR, I really don’t see it but I could be wrong.

Taking only 3 or (4 max) WRs with Nash on board would make it thin going forward.

Thanks for providing that explanation above. I don’t think I’ve seen that previously.

I could have sworn that I read we were recruiting him as a CB only which would make sense with your breakdown of the roster. He definitely is in the wrong class for what we need to flesh out the roster. I’m fine with that because I’ve been harping for years about the need for size in the group. However, the casual fan will probably flip if we don’t pursue him considering what’s happening with Wilkins and Thomas.

Probably Okie State or Ole Miss for him from how it appears.

Damn that would have been a big get for Chad "recruiting optional" Morris. It might have even pushed us into the top 60!

Odds he can commit two more times after this one by signing day?

Let A&M have a subpar season and the odds probably skyrocket.
