UA Dallas Camp

quote:

S Jalen Catalon - Catalon is quite simply a gamer. It was no surprise to see him step up in the seven-on-seven portion of the event and make interceptions. He reads and reacts with cat-like quickness and does not get caught out of position. Catalon closes extremely quickly and that allows him to deceive quarterbacks into making throws they think are safe, but with him patrolling the middle of the field they just aren't. The 5-foot-9, 180-pounder from Mansfield (Texas) Legacy checks in as the No. 8 safety nationally and is considering offers from programs like Arkansas, Clemson, Ohio State, TCU, and Texas among an abundance of others.

quote:

OT Stacey Wilkins - The top-level true offensive tackle at the event showed some real wow moments in the one-on-ones. He did not win all of his reps, but he showed a nasty streak that really made him jump out and he was also solid in the drill work. Wilkins has a very high ceiling with his length and power. The 6-foot-7, 280-pounder from Camden (Texas) Fairview is rated as a 247Sports Composite four-star and is considering offers from programs like Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas among others.

quote:

S Lewis Cine - The 6-foot-2, 180-pound defensive back from Cedar Hll (Texas) Trinity Christian is new to the Texas recruiting landscape as transfer to the private school in South Dallas, and he showed that he is not afraid to competition. He lost some reps, but he also won as many reps as any defensive back in attendance. He has a good frame and a competitive spirit. Cine is already an Under Armour All-American.

SEC Country on Cine

quote:

CB Myles Slusher - Broken Arrow (Okla.) 2020 cornerback Myles Slusher proved to be one of the most consistent defensive backs during Sunday's 1-on-1 matchups and 3-on-3 drills. Slusher looks and plays larger than his listed size of 5-foot-10, 170 pounds and appears relatively long as well. Slusher breaks quickly and closes fast. He repeatedly found himself around the ball and showed impressive overall athleticism and quick-twitch ability.

quote:

SDE Taurean Carter - The second Mansfield (Texas) Legacy prospect to make the list, which is an impressive feat for that high school program. Carter is a versatile defender and will create mismatches up front. As an interior defender he is too quick and agile for many guys to take on in one-on-one situations. The 247Sports Composite three-star is listed at 6-foot-3, 250 pounds, but looked a tick bigger than that today. He has offers from Colorado, Florida, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech.

Carter visited in Feb but we didn’t offer because of other targets ahead.

quote:

OL Branson Bragg - Bragg punched his ticket to the Under Armour All-America Game behind a strong performance. He was at his best in the run blocking work and he is a load. As a center who is right up there with the best in the country.

quote:

DE Trace Ford - The DL Big Man Challenge winner is a true speed rusher off the edge who is starting to collect an impressive offer list. He has schools like Oklahoma State and Florid State standing out early, but is still hearing a lot from Texas and Stanford.

quote:

QB Jacolby Criswell - Criswell impressed during Sunday's quarterback drills. He started by showing good velocity with quick deliveries and tight spirals during sprint-outs, then continued to make solid throws in 1-on-1's and 3-on-3's. He will soon be a Power Five-targeted recruit.

Good offer list. Is anybody expecting him to commit on the visit?

DT Trevis Hopper decommits.

When he deleted all his tweets and changed his twitter bio knew something was up.

Memphis now in the drivers seat.

Could happen. He’s up with Soli and Williams on their board IMO.

Former El Dorado G Czar Perry has joined Javon Franklin at Holmes CC after spending this year at Northwestern State.

Seemed like an odd commitment all along.

Agree.. Supposedly most of his offers came early as a OL prospect. When he was listed 260 as DT my eyes were raised.

I heard this not long ago. Apparently they came when he was a freshman. Word is he could be physically as developed as he can get.

You guys think Arkansas will finish top 10 in the SEC for 2019?

Nope. We'll never recruit another player and never win another game so you might as well quit the board now.

It's a legitimate question. Thought I'd ask the experts.

I'm willing to give it this year before I make a determination on his recruiting prowess, especially considering the once a decade in state class coming out this year. Right now, we're hovering around last in the SEC and fiftieth nationally, and our two commits aren't highly rated. If we're still there in December and February, then it's time to question his recruiting.

Well Bielema only finished inside the top ten twice and that was 9th in 2013 and 2016.

Bielema also finished within the top 25 nationally three times and never finished below 30. People knock our talent level as it is with those classes; we certainly can't afford to be finishing lower than that and with lower average recruit rankings. Like I said, it's way too early to be concerned with that yet because we have two commits in early April. I was simply responding to stonehog's question.

Bielema’s flaw was loading up on certain positions in one year then going two without adding depth behind. If we address needs and depth it will be an improvement. Consistently bringing in talent and adding speed is the number one priority.

Agreed, that and the overwhelming number of highly rated busts did him in. I was looking over some of those old classes a while back, and so many of our higher rated recruits either never contributed, contributed well below their expectations, took too long to contribute, or just weren't as good we all had hoped. To be successful, we need most of our highly rated guys to pan out in conjunction with great development of the others, similar to Mullen at Mississippi State.

The busts must move on and not stick taking up a roster spot.

Not to mention the rare legacy recruit actually being in numbers this year and highly rated.

There is no excuse for Chad to not have a great class by Arkansas standards, all there of his predecessors would have top 20 classes with the talent that is available to Arkansas this year...
