Running back Kyle Porter likely won't wait until signing day to make a decision.

Expecting Joesph Putu to pull the trigger sometime this weekend.

A Texas contact believes safety Brandon Jones will decide from Texas or Baylor and thinks it will be Texas on signing day.

As noted below, North Carolina looks to be the team to beat for defensive end Allen Cater.

I believe Arkansas is in good shape with receiver Tyrie Cleveland and cornerback Kristian Fulton if he can overcome the in-state pressure to go to LSU.

as expected with jones. I also believed this with cater. I believe that distance is the biggest contributing factor.

I'd be ok getting porter, putu, cleveland, fulton, smith, walker and ramirez

throw in a couple of OT's and call it a class

So IF we do hit on Fulton, Cleveland, and Porter, then round out class with Putu and a couple grad transfers…that would have to be a top 15 class right??

Also wonder if Pennamon is back in play with the Ole Miss sanctions likely coming.

distance makes sense. getting cleveland would be a huge coup. getting fulton would, i think, be a huge sign for what we can do in the future. long term program level stuff, when you look at that on top of a big class, building on pulling collins.

imo this is good news.

we've been quiet on the RB recruiting front for awhile and still need one more back. makes me believe the coaches are confident in getting porter. plus porter knows he's who we want and he's visiting us last.

Grad transfers wouldn't count towards this class (like Mallett forever ago) but would be a huge asset to the team.

mallett wasn't a grad transfer.

isn't the grad transfer rule for the SEC weird now after nutt brought in masoli?

Surely the staff wouldn't be in on guys they know they can't get into school b/c of SEC rules. If so, Nutt has fricked us one more time.

yeah you're right. looked it up, the masoli rule added that you can't take a grad who was ever disciplined by his previous school.

We're going to sign slightly less than 25 with some reaches again aren't we? frick. This Micahh Smith is Hogville All American Petrino special. He doesn't even have G5 offers; it's FCS or Arkansas. Congrats to these kids on being hogs but it's hard to get excited about it when everybody in the west is landing highly touted recruits.

ETA: LSU just landed quite possibly the best class in recruiting service history. They won't be great next year, but at the very least the cupboard will be NC stocked for the next guy. If by unfortunate circumstances Bielema doesn't work out we will be making the same excuses many years down the line. Forgive me for being a bit pessimistic at the moment lol. I hope we sign all the top rated recruits we're in on but I've learned from years (and recruits) as a Razorback fan to never get the hopes up.

There are certainly some players that excite me about this class, but these week before signing day reaches when we need 8 players to fill the class is discouraging.

life would be a lot simpler if we could all become bama football fans and kentucky basketball fans

We'll always be out-recruited by the majority of the west teams due to the size of our state. But we can be better at developing, better at coaching, and put forth a better effort.

Stars aren't everything. LSU has top rated talent year in and year out. And we've destroyed them the last two years.

You're right. Stars aren't everything. I mean, what is really the difference in a 5.7 3* and a 5.8 4*? I would think there is pretty much no difference. The offers they have received is a much more telling indicator. Demarea Crockett was a 5.8 4* that we didn't even offer. Recently it seems we have been beat out for some recruits with other P5 offers, and are taking guys where we are clearly their best offer.
