I keep hearing stories about everyone left on the team being "good kids", seems Bert really has gotten rid of the riff-raft off the team.

Same with Anderson and the men's program.

The SEC has a feel of the SWC back in the 80s, today to me, We have coaches who will keep our nose clean in both programs.

It's bad. The recruiting shenanigans is nowhere near what is was in the 70's and 80's, but in some aspects it's worse, way worse. Back then the NCAA really didn't do much of anything, the money wasn't big enough to warrant oversight. It was more of a formality and networking organization that oversaw rules on the field.

Title IX gave the NCAA a responsibility and with that they took authority. With their new authority the loosey goosey way of recruiting and providing benefits and the mandates of equality these benefits now became improper and warranted sanctions.

I had a sociology professor that played at Mizzou in the late 70's/early 80's. He outright told of getting cash from boosters, cush no show jobs, envelopes with play money for good performances. He told of how he didn't take academics seriously and would have to do summer school, he saw his teammates that didn't have to do summer school get these jobs from boosters that paid them $40-50 a hour, in the 80's nonetheless, and they only had to show up a couple times a week. He said he wanted one of those jobs, it was his motivation to get decent grades in the regular school semester so he could get banked in the summer.

Now the difference is the NCAA is actively trying to protect this system because the TV money is too damn big to let a Colonial Bank, Cam Newton, Terelle Pryor, or the Bama Process of paying players and families slow down the growth and raking in of cash.

The amount of $ the conferences pile up has exploded. Just from the 'As the Plains Burn' season in 2010 to this past season the revenues have for the most part increased 3 and 4 fold.

It's not that the NCAA is toothless, they'll hammer the shite of a non-producing school or one they need to prove a point to (see Arkansas and the Ted Harrod and Sunday Adebayo witch hunts). What they won't do is risk damage to their cash cow, this is where the outlaw programs operate freely with impunity and at worst they'll suffer slaps on the wrists and public admonishment that neither effects the system, or reduces the profit made from their success on the field through shady operations.

If I wasn't an addict to this shite, I'd have taken up anything else long ago. It's really ridiculous how athletics is sapping away the constructive energy of our society.

KJ Hill is 8th in the SPARQ rating at the opening so far. He recorded a 4.61 40 and had a 40.1 vertical. He also had a 3.88 shuttle which is pretty amazing from what I've just googled lol

Jarius Wright's shuttle at the NFL combine was 4.03 for comparison.

Him and Tyler Phillips will be in the finals on ESPNU at 7 tonight

Holy shite.

Sounds like a perfect slot receiver if we can just convince him to come.

Those testing numbers are all inflated but I guess when everyone competing is getting judged by the same format it is a fair competition.

I just wouldn't read too much into the exact numbers.

Also RD writes about LINK in his latest post.

Just good at testing because his HS coach teaches it every off-season.

Bama is for sure not committable. I just got off the phone with an assistant head coach who I played college ball with and he just told me. Say what you want but I do know a little about this guy.

You can't teach someone to jump 40+ inches.

The SPARQ vertical jumps are digital and not judged on the Vertec like the NFL combine uses.

SPARQ Prelim Numbers

NFL Combine Results

-2 jumps over 45 at SPARQ when best at NFL combine was 42.

-7 40's under 4.4 at SPARQ including a LB. NFL combine had 7 all were WR or DB. 18 40's under 4.5 at SPARQ.

-20 yard shuttle are better in line with NFL numbers

They should get rid of the SPARQ stuff and do a NFL combine replica but won't because SPARQ is Nike's product.

"@bartonsimmons: @rivalsmike numbers are def souped up out here. No doubt."
