Haven't seen it elsewhere yet.

I have officially decommitted from the University of Louisville.
And here...LINK
2015 Quarterback Ross Trail (Olive Branch, Mississippi) has decommitted from the Louisville Cardinals. He committed to the Cards back on September 22, 2013. The 4 major recruiting services (Rivals, Scout, 247, ESPN) all list Trail as a 3-star prospect.
When Bobby Petrino was hired, Trail’s father said that they were excited about the hire and they had followed his career since he was at Arkansas. This could just be a case of him opening his recruitment back up and wanting to get familiar with the new staff, as he did commit when Charlie Strong was the head coach. We will see if Louisville stays in the picture for Trail as he seems to be a pretty solid 2015 prospect. Not to mention, the Quarterback spot at Louisville is pretty deep right now, but you know that Petrino will always be looking for more!

CJ O'Grady was offered by Texas today. I honestly do not get this staffs recruiting strategy. The kid goes to school less than a mile from your office. You should/could have had him stop by numerous times by now if you were questioning his abilities.

It really throws me for a loop. In state kids should be the first you offer, we should be on them ....

Fat Bert is trying to differentiate the program. He's resisting evolution and disruptive innovation. It doesn't require a Spears Business School education to understand what happens to organizations that differentiate by staying true to old and dated models of business. You can hang on and survive but you never maximize resources, potential, or ever hit your peak capacities.
They've white flagged on Pettway. I'm glad my thoughts on Gragg appear to just be innate negativity and setting an expectation where devastation is avoidable.
There's at least 12 kids in state that can play high D1 ball. Some will need a redshirt year but there's some talent that we can compete with in the SEC. We need them all.
Also wtf are we doing in Texarkana? There's always a handful of high level guys out that corner of AR, OK, LA, TX. I-49 needs done 15 years ago.

We are loaded in 2015 by Arkansas standards and we need to take advantage of this. These type of talent this year is what will help us rebuild.

one thing I think about when I hear about bert not offering a kid that other coaches have offered and the message board crowd think we should offer is something bert said after this last signing class.
he said he looks for kid's with that 'It' factor before offering them a scholly. guess the kids that haven't got an offer yet either don't have that 'it' factor or it hasn't been confirmed that they have the 'it' factor

I'll expand when I'm not driving but I wouldn't offer anyone anything until I met them and had a face to face. Star gazer programs that don't do their homework will throw out 350 offers for a class of 25. It doesn't seem to our advantage to do that. Petrino showed us what attrition and bad chemistry will do to a team.
I like the philosophy behind it but being stubborn about it puts us at a competitive disadvantage.

I don't know what the situation is with any of these instate guys, but if a guy doesn't fit into the program for whatever reason, then he shouldn't be offered. I'm speaking in generalities of course.

On the other hand, does the timing really matter with instate kids?
If they want to go to Arkansas, and they have the necessary requirement, a scholly offer, does it matter if that offer came in January or July?
If they don't want to go to Arkansas, isn't it best for both parties if they never receive an offer? They can say "well, I'm going to x school out of state because its best for me. Why not Arkansas? I didn't have an offer from them" or for the staff its hard to miss on what you didn't want...

The biggest risk you run is of a kid who wants to go to Arkansas getting offered by an out of state school and in the three-six months it takes is to offer because we are waiting on camp they build a strong relationship to that other school and commit. Not every kid that is a "Hog lock" would be swayed but someone eventually will.

Sure, then they hit fall camp and reality sets in when they are being called by the number assigned to them because the actual name is forgotten.
Good trial period to separate the guys who can thrive on their own in college versus the ones who are are looking for "the love", being coddled, and having their dick sucked through the recruiting process...

"Obviously I would love to play for Arkansas,” O’Grady said. “That has been a dream and I hope I get the opportunity to do so. Not only is it the team that I grew up loving, but it is a great school for a tight end. They run a lot of 12 personnel (one running back, two tight ends, two wide receivers) and 21 personnel (two running backs, one tight end) so that is perfect for me.”

As much as we pay these coaches sucking a little dick for a good recruit shouldn't be taken off the table

We're probably gonna offer O'Grady this weekend.. he was going to visit Texas this weekend until last night.
