Looks like the reporter just stopped him in the hallway to do an impromptu interview, the only safe place for Monk's gum was in his mouth.
Monk isn't wearing a mic, this reporter is just using the microphone on the camera which you should never do. You also never interview someone with a wall behind them. This reporter sucks all around, he didn't even start off with any questions, he just told Monk to "talk about" shite.
I thought Malik did fine in the interview considering the bad circumstances.

I didn't realize CBB recruited for the basketball team as well..
and, when asked if you will do a quick interview, you have time to get a drink, spit out your gum, etc.
Not trying to bust the kids chops here, by Ky was the same out of EPC. Has taken a coach like MA to settle him down, change his tone a bit. Glad he is doing well.
That whole family has been through the ringer though, wish them nothing but the best.
