this was Petrino's MO in hindsight. He didn't really want to battle with the big boys and expend his efforts outside of the bedroom. Nutt just was a POS, neither ever landed anything of note from Florida other than Mike Smith. Hey lets forget about Florida and go put a sign in AZ

We've sucked at recruiting for all 32 years of my life. It's going to take a whole lot more than one HB from South Florida for me to see things any different.
I'll FAP with you guys because there is literally nothing else to do, but put me in the group of doubters as to whether or not Arkansas can recruit nationally, year in and year out, at a Top 25 level.
It's honestly just easier for me to be negative than believe it can change.

But yeah I get what you're saying, one good prospect out of Miami doesn't turn things around automatically.

Yeah, you can't say 'year in and year out' until years down the road, so I guess you're right...
BUT, CBB did exactly that with only a few weeks to work on it this year. National? Hawaii, Florida, Texas, probably New Jersey... don't get much more 'national' than that.
Top 25 level? This class was ranked 25th this morning in at least one of the services that I heard of.
Land Doo Wop and Kirkland (admittedly not sure on either at the moment) we could get as high a 20 I think.

This class is more than just national:
FL 3
Ar 7
HI 1
CO 1
TX 3
Australia 1
JUCOs
CA 2 (OR, MD)
GA 1 (SC)
KS 2 (AR, KS)
Still a chance to add commits from New Jersey, Arizona, Florida, and Texas tomorrow.

Petrino's forray into Arizona turned into the Donner party.
Loco, pump the brakes man. I think 2Beez is going to do huge, amazing things here. He's the perfect coach for us. I would be very surprised if he leaves, ever. Fayetteville is where coaches go to retire or be fired. What I was talking about is this A-team of Chaney, Pittman, Smith, Partridge, Ash, Johnson, and Shannon. That is a strong strong coaching staff no matter how you slice it. Naturally those guys are going to get offers thrown at them. We'll have the means to keep them, but at a point coaches will take the next step up, it's what that profession does.
I'm kind of glad we plugged Smith in for McDonald. Hartsfield is from South Oak Cliff, how long has it been since we signed anyone other than a roster filler from there? With the growth of the metro the suburban schools have exploded, but South Oak Cliff is still a prime pipeline. We gotta get another foot in at DeSoto, Duncanville, and Cedar Hill too.
Staff turnover is part of the game, but this one will have a little place in my heart after the shitshow we've been through the last 12 months.

As long as they are leaving for upgrades, position coaches to BCS coordinators, coordinators to HCs, we can go out and snag equally as good assistants to replace them.
This is what Broyles did here. CBB knows this having learned from one of them, Hayden Frye. What was happening at Wisconsin was position coaches leaving to be position coaches, huge difference.
Its sucks to have staff turnover from a fans perspective but its great for a program as it keeps things from getting stale and complacent, breeds competition in the staff like bringing in a 5* running back through recruiting, makes the guys on the depth chart work harder for their job.
Plus everyone wants to work for a guy who gives them the best opportunity to get their own program.
