That would be my guess as well. For years under Long we heard about how strong we were financially... only to discover that was mostly smoke and mirrors. Oddly enough, under the sports first HY, we are as strong financially as Long said we were.

I think Long, as you said, got fired for several things coming together. Bert alone wouldn't have done him in. Bert and a lot of other poor decisions, on the other hand, more than did the trick. Regardless it was a Godsend for our athletic department to get him out the door.
