The days when Ken Hatfield caught hell for only having us ranked in the top 15 four out of his six years seems like a distant mirage.

I remember the company line was it would take 5 years to rebuild the program but then we’d be winning championships. What a load of crap.

There are a few exceptions to the rule but 9x our of 10 you will know what you have in a coach by year 2 or 3. The first year is never a good measuring stick but after that it’s his program and his culture. Saban made a gigantic jump between years one and 2 and even larger than that into year 3

Exactly, since Stoops has far more coaching experience than Chaggy. Coaching might be>than Jimmy's and Joe's in this case.
