Why? Nobody was saying that last week and nothing has changed except trolls are losing their minds over something that didn't happen. If it affects the team it will be to piss them off and bring them together. People will point to the USC game, but I'm willing to bet that had a lot more to do with not mentally preparing to play against a bad team than anything else.

It isn't tainted. You're literally falling into their trap.

The media and these trolls know Brandon Miller isn't guilty. They're just tired of Alabama, have seen us dominate football and don't want to see us with Nate Oats doing the same in basketball.

They just want to say there is some kind of asterisk in the end if we win. That is all this is about.

The first attempt was to apply pressure to force us to do something stupid like firing Nate Oats for comments or punishing an innocent player (which would hurt him and make him lose faith in us).

The next step was to paint this successful season as being a failure regardless because they can't accept the fact we have a very dangerous team that can legitimately win it all.

Don't fall for their bait.

I don't think this is the case at all. Would it be better for the program if this had not happened? Sure. But it is already blowing over and a pleasant surprise has been that a number of prominent people are coming to Alabama's and Brandon's defense. People like Scarbinsky, Jeff Goodman, Doug Gottlieb, Jay Bilas and I assume others. In the end there will likely be a bit of sympathy.

The hardliners are mostly fools, the ignorant and those with an ax to grind. E.g., I almost relish Clay Travis being in opposition.

Fans are always going to act like this because Alabama provokes a great deal of jealousy for all of its amazing athletic success in the most prominent sports. That is what we have seen. No other program would have been treated anything like this, just like when Saban was hired. If he had gone to any other school it would have been ignored.

So, no, whatever success this team achieves will not be tainted in the least. There is no cloud over the program, just ignorant and unwarranted criticism and another unveiling of the rancid filth spewed by al.com. There is a cloud over them and affirmation of the recent 24% approval rating of the media.

But, Brandon, Coach Oats and the administration, have acted admirably in the face of a tragic and very difficult situation. I applaud them and any asterisk would be one of admiration for what they've overcome.

Brandon especially has risen above it all in a magnificent way. Hopefully, the program will be able to maintain their stellar play and not collapse under all of the pressure. It would be understandable if they wilted a bit.
