Saban says he is the most consistent safety to date and that includes Thompson. I think by midseason the secondary will be playing elite as a unit. By then the freshmen will have expanded their roles and the experience will be there. I look for Petrino to exploit our youth and hit some big plays but it will be a learning experience. Everybody thought Thompson would be the dog out there but hold on to that thought.

Yeah I haven't been too sure what to expect from McKinney OR Diggs, but Saban mentioning both is a good sign. I think Thompson will be a very good Safety for us, he's got Clinton-Dix potential. Not 100% sure how good I think Saivion Smith will be this season, I expect him to be solid and return next year and be shutdown, but ya never know he could be locking people down this year.

Really been liking Shy Carter at Star, but also been wanting to see Surtain get on the field. With the idea of Shy moving to Money in Dime and Surtain coming in at Star, I like that a lot, plus Surtain is next man up at CB one would think. The secondary has the pieces, let's see how well they fit together.

Absolutely agree.

Absolutely disagree. He is solid but Ha Ha had elite measurables where Thompson doesn't. Ha Ha was a major contributor from day one. Not taking anything away from Thompson but I don't think he's close to the football player Ha Ha was.

Thompson is listed as an inch taller and 12 lbs lighter than Dix. Not a huge difference, imo.

I'll agree to disagree. Thompson, to me, is a rangy free safety reminiscent of HaHa. Eddie was too, but I think Deionte may have a little more range than Jackson but yet to be determined ball skills and football acumen.

The potential is there, we just haven't seen if he'll live up to it. This is his fourth year on campus, HaHa was our deep safety in 2012 and led the team with 5 INTs (1 was credited to Blake Sims because they wore the same number, but HaHa made it) then played good ball full time in 2013. Deionte has taken longer to see the field, maybe he'll never be as good as HCD, but I think the potential is there for him to be that kind of safety.

Speed bro. Thompson turned in a 4.7 at camps which is fine but Ha Ha could fly. Either way it is just a difference of opinion and I hope like hell that mine is wrong. I hop Thompson turns himself into a first rounder.

This first game, I have a feeling we will give up more than 20 points. Might be close to 30

I fully expect Petrino to attack our young secondary and probably score over 20. I bet we put up close to 50 or more though. Seriously.

I agree. Especially after the Louisville player comments. I've noticed Saban releases the Kraken when other teams talk shite.

If high school tape is any indicator, Mckinney is one of the best players we have. Expecting big things from his career
