that first play Ty had a full 4 seconds to throw, and hung out in the very back of the pocket and didn't really climb up at all. I don't think you can really put that one all on Formby.

I thought we looked best with 74, 71, 72, 77 and 74.
Looked like O line played well overall

Proctor is fast, but I don’t think he’s “play both tackle positions at the same time” fast.

Reminds me of that old SNL skit where George Steinbrenner dreamed he played every position for the Yankees and threw it to himself.

I said this earlier in the thread
On the second sack... Wilkin Formby was expecting help from Daniel Hill and he didn't get it.
The film guy (YouTube) noticed the exact same thing.
Wilkin Formby was hot and you can see him fussing at Hill!

Joka, I think you know ball and I respect a lot of your opinions. However, getting help and barely touching a guy are two different things. He barely, literally, laid a finger on the guy. You are getting paid to block, I understand its a tough spot and sometimes you need some help; but that was at best a "lookout block" attempt. It was bad bad.

How does expecting help excuse him for barely getting a fingernail on the guy? I don't know how that protection was set up, but Hill was in no position to help coming off that play-action, and Grubb has said that Hill is as good as we have when it comes to knowing protections and pickups.

I'm not making excuses for the guy because I agree with you that he should've showed better effort on that play.
I was only acknowledging what I thought was the case/issue on that play!

Our running backs struggled in pass pro Saturday.
That was obvious.
I'm not excusing his effort on that play. What I'm saying is if Hill was supposed to chip then it would've slowed the guy down.
It just looks like miscommunication.

The ball was snapped at 4:22; Ty hits the final step of his drop at 4:20. He's contacted by the DE at 4:19. It wasn't a full four seconds at all, and unless he immediately bailed on the play there was next to no time to step up / run. Sometimes we have longer developing routes. Your OL have to be able to hold up better than that.
I'm not going to blame Formby alone. I'm also going to blame the staff for not designing better protection, or for choosing that play, because at this point it's painfully obvious he's not going to win over and over against speed rushers unless he gets help.

I think we expected more split safety zone coverages (cover 2 and quarters) than we got and our plan was a little off kilter. I think our staff thought they'd sit back and try to get pressure with 4 so we would just chip 1 or both ends and not expect much pressure up the middle. Sensible expectation because they have 3-4 good edge rushers and their first line is great. However, Missouri blitzed a fair bit and the highlights for the game (and my memory from watching live) seems to reinforce that they were playing with a box safety and blitzing backers quite a bit. They knew they had us mismatched on the edge in pass protection and deduced how we would react.
Luckily, our offense made some plays when it really mattered and their offense made too many mistakes to win a ball game against quality competition.
