They were good enough to open holes for our RBs when they were called on to open them tonight.

I didn't want to respond to this until I went back and looked at the the stats.

Harris and Bo had a combined 12 carries for 93 yards...7.9 YPC.

Three of those carries were for 31, 21, and 14 yards.

On the other 9 carries they got 31 yards...3.4 YPC. Mediocre at best. Five of those carries...almost half their total, were for 0, 1, or 2 yards.

So no, the OL didn't open up holes consistently. Not at all.

Jacobs had 6 carries, all between 2 and 6 yards each...4.2 YPC. Decent, but not that great.

You took exception to me saying Saban was a mediocre game day coach.

My issue was that you blamed the whole loss on Saban's preparation and game day coaching, when the reality is that certain areas of our team...OL and aspects of the kicking game...just are not good at all. When you start out with OL players who just aren't very good, you're not going to win no matter how well prepared they are. You can't game prepare and game day coach Womack and Cotton into Warmack, Jones, and Fluker.

Now if you want to blame Saban for poor HS OL evaluation and/or poor hiring of an OL coach, I'm all in with you on that.

I'd agree with you if we didn't ram it down their throats at will to start the 2nd half. We went away from it and it killed us.

As a Saints fan I saw this on Sunday. Mark Ingram was averaging 9 yards a carry and Payton refused to give him the ball.

We don't have Drew Brees at QB (nobody does) to overcome it, but in overtime the Saints went back to the ground game and won.

That's coaching errors. We have a offensive line group of road graders yet we expect them to pass block 60% of the time.

ETA: You know I got nothing but love for ya fam.

Misdirection and wide runs were where we were gashing them. Sreens and swing passes worked well too. Idk why Daboll stops calling what's working well.

Remember the next series after the opening TD drive? Go back and look at the play by play.

The second series after we rammed it down their throats, what did we do?

1st & 10...Bo carried for 5
2nd & 5...Bo carried for 0
3rd & 5...Pass in the flats to Bo...not a bad play to get him the ball in space, but the Auburn player made a good open field tackle.

Made the point in another thread...take away the carries for 31, 14, and 21, and Bo and Damien's carries were for 9, 2, 1, 2, 6, 1, 5, 5, and 0. 3.4 YPC. That's pretty mediocre.

Jacobs had 6 carries, all between 2 and 6 yards for a 4.2 YPC. Not bad...not great.
