I think a lot of people have amnesia about the reality of our QB position pre-2018. There were several years where we weren't getting high-level QB play.

Funnily enough, I also think that once the defense starts playing really well, guys like Milroe all of the sudden become “gritty” and a guy that “makes plays when he has to.”

Kind of like Jake Coker.

the weirdest thing about Milroe is he does worse with the scripted plays (the early game plays he's practiced all week) than he does later in the game. We've scored 5 first quarter touchdowns all year, including one on a busted play against MTSU and one from the defense. All 5 happened in 3 games.

14 of 24 offensive touchdowns are from outside the red zone. 7 longer than 40 yards. That's bizarre for anybody let alone a 1st year starter that nobody would describe as a pocket passer.

It's all an indictment of coaching. They put together a game plan that is not only terrible but the kids look completely lost trying to execute it. The result is 5 halftime deficits in 8 games and a 3-3 tie against USF. Out of necessity, the revert to things Milroe is comfortable doing and hope to eek out a win. Which, to his credit, he's done 4 times.

I think it is fair to say we won two or three games because of Young's ability. Most other last years starting quarterbacks would not have pulled it off. Also, am I correct in thinking if the new rule of not stopping the clock of first downs was in effect last year we may have lost a couple of more?

Since being benched against USF, the redshirt sophomore’s 90.1 grade trails only Jayden Daniels and J.J. McCarthy among Power Five quarterbacks.

Jayden Daniels is actually who I think he tracks with from a skill set standpoint.

Daniels at ASU was nowhere close to who he is now and I think with development and time Milroe has a Heisman level ceiling.

Heck with better QB coaching earlier in his career he might’ve made it there this year, but the footwork and pocket feel is still a mess.
