Seems the game is just a bit fast for him at this level right now.

I don't think it's too fast for him. Like you said, drops killed multiple drives and with some game experience under his belt I think he will be fine. I wish they let him play with the 1s.

He was a hair behind on a few plays yesterday. When I say too fast for him I don’t mean it in a way that’s as negative as it maybe sounded. I don’t think it is too fast for him mentally and certainly not physically. It was more so a timing thing. Being completely transparent; I went into yesterday hoping for Ty to win the job, but open minded to Milroes improvements to win him the job. While I don’t think Ty won the job, I like him more moving forward because in Jalens third year in the program I see very little improvement. I suppose I don’t see him improving significantly over the next hindered plus days.

Isaiah Bonds had a really rough day. The whole receiving staff had the kind of day that loses games against a good team.

I feel the same as you.

I can’t think of many QBs in their 3rd year that learned how to read a defense between spring and fall. I think Ty improving his timing is way more likely to happen.

They didn't call any rollout or bootleg passing plays for Milroe, they basically made him stay in the pocket which is not his game. And because of that he got 'sacked' a lot. All you have to do is watch his college highlights on YouTube to see how hard he is to sack in a real game. He needs to work on his accuracy but they made him stay in the pocket yesterday and he will fail if they do that in season.

I didn't feel they used Bryce's athleticism well either. He was a great runner but they made him scared to run even his first year as a starter but we wouldn't have beat UGA without his running because we didn't run it well in that SECCG with our backs.

If Milroe is the man then I'm confident Rees will call bootlegs, misdirections, and rollouts to get him out of the pocket to use his strengths.

Othello is right. They asked him to play as a drop back passer when in reality we're probably going to run something closer to the 2016 offense with Jalen Hurts.

The thing about Milroe is we haven't seen a lot of him moving and throwing though. Wasn't a big part of the BOB offense and wasn't seen in the A-Day shell-of-an-offense playbook. In theory, you'd love to get this guy moving around because he can turn these plays into runs when all else fails. But he may not throw well on boots and sprints.

In no way am I trying to bash JM, but he can make some relatively routine throws look very hard and inaccurate. Im not entirely sure the best thing for a guy who can struggle with accuracy is to tell him to try and make the same throws, but this time while you’re running. If he is moving around with the ball in his hand, I assume he tuck it and run. He is as atheistic and dynamic in space as anyone.

What I saw was a blazing fast one read QB with major issues reading defenses and who as a result is still very turnover prone. He has an absolute cannon but it doesn’t matter yet because his awareness and accuracy aren’t there.

I do agree that he was being asked to run the modern Nick Saban offense and that is certainly not something that optimizes his skill set. I could see us looking a lot like Rees offense at ND the year they had the mobile guy if we go with Jalen because the BY era passing offense just isn’t gonna work.

People were hoping to see some sort of Blake Sims / Jalen Hurts in the NFL development and there’s just nothing to support that yet.

Not sure after Tua/Max/Bryce anyone should be excited to go back to the 2016 bootleg one read offense and I don’t see the offense from Saturday winning anything that matters this year.

Thankfully still plenty of time for someone to step up.

Hurts was pretty dang good as a freshman in the 2016 A-Day game

Yep. Jalen was CLEARLY the best quarterback that day.

We should have played Simpson a lot more last year than we did. But yes Wiggins is..... not good.
