So... it's not been great for the men. Women have a few top 100 commits, based on personal best times. I also hate to asperse a non top 100 swimmer as not good... it's just the SEC is ridiculous good, and there will be at least 1 event where people outside of the top 24 at conference championships will make the ncaa championship b cut time, and not swim in a final. It's rough. So for the men, that recent ohio commit is ranked 78th for the high school guys... Sydney Blackurst, recent commit from Scottsdale/Phoenix is 71st, Gaby Van Brunt of Savannah is 33rd , Laci Black of Rockwell, Texas 83rd. LINK to our full list of recruits. We have a guy ranked 102, easily could be on the 400 and 800 free relay as a freshman.
I haven't checked our roster/first meet results to see if any of our foreign commits in the last class actually showed up. I probably won't look at the results vs whatever this Birmingham school is we're swimming against either

The name, any name, on any building represents enough that its limitation to just a handful of letters still tells a compelling story. As does any annual, in-memory-of recognition.
Which is what the Alabama women's tennis program does every October. This weekend, it hosts the Roberta Alison Fall Classic in memory of a former player whose name is carved into the indoor practice facility as subtext of her greater impact.
Alison, from Alexander City, Alabama, was the first female athlete in the Southeastern Conference in 1963. Upon an exception made on her behalf, she played on the men’s team as Title IX wasn’t existent until nine years later.
