Men's 800 free relay finished 4th, but made the ncaa automatic qualifying time. Women finished 5th, and made the B cut.

Women are currently 8th and the men are 5th overall. I'd expect the women to move up several positions, men will likeky hover around where we are currently. Tonight was only the 2 relays and a diving event for men/women, aka the short day. Individual events are starting tomorrow.

Alabama Opens SEC Swimming & Diving Championships with Medals and Records

The Crimson Tide women set a new school, SEC and SEC Championships record on the way to winning the 200 medley relay in the first race of the week, while the men grabbed silver in the 200 medley relay

The Alabama swimming and diving team opened racing at the Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships with a gold medal to go with a school, SEC and SEC Championships record.

Rhyan White, Avery Wiseman, Morgan Scott and Kalia Antoniou combined to win the women's 200 medley relay with a school, SEC Championships and SEC record of 1:33.94, becoming the first team in conference history to go under 1:34.00. The win gave the Crimson Tide two in a row after winning last year's 200 medley relay as well.

The Crimson Tide men got off to a strong start of their own, taking silver in the 200 medley relay with Matt Menke, Derek Maas, Tyler Sesvold and Jonathan Berneburg turning in a season-best 1:22.28 and grabbing Alabama's seventh SEC medal in the event in the past eight years. Maas' 22.63 is the fastest 50 breaststroke split in history.

Alabama closed day one with Kaique Alves, Charlie Hawke, Cam Auerbach and Kacper Piotrowski shattering the school 800 freestyle relay record with a 6:22.54, crushing the previous mark set in 2016 by more than five seconds. Alves led off the Tide's 800 freestyle relay with a career-best 1:33.28, which ranks him 3rd all-time at UA.

Mela Delmenico, Cora Dupre, Antoniou and Gracie Felner combined to go a season-best 7:03.06 in the women's 800 freestyle relay, taking 5th place. Delmenico led the 800 relay off with a career-best 1:45.77, which ranks her fourth all-time for Alabama.

Head Coach Margo Geer Said
"That was a great start to the meet for our team tonight. Our women came out swinging, breaking the school, SEC and SEC Championship record on the way to winning the 200 medley relay. We opened racing on the men's side by taking silver, earning our seventh SEC medal in the 200 medley relay in the last eight years. It was really exciting to see Derek Maas step up and go the third fastest 50 breaststroke split in history. With that kind of start, it should be a good week for him. Then closing the night with a school record in the men's 800 freestyle relay by more than five seconds was another highlight of day one. At this point it's one session at a time, and we know we need to get after it in the morning to set ourselves up well for finals."

Alabama’s Enzo Aguiard Named SEC Freshman of the Week

Aguiard led the Crimson Tide over the week, capturing a pair of wins against nationally-ranked singles players

Alabama's Enzo Aguiard was named the Southeastern Conference Men's Tennis Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday, for his performance in the Crimson Tide's road matches against No. 19 Oklahoma and Tulsa. Aguiard, who played at the No. 2 spot in both events, recorded a pair of singles wins against nationally-ranked players in addition to adding a win in doubles play to his season resume.

A rookie from Melbourne, Australia, Aguiard dropped just two games in his opening set against 53rd-ranked Alex Martinez from Oklahoma, before battling through a tiebreaker in his second set to take the match 6-2, 7-6 (5). Two days later, he would defeat 86th-ranked Ezequiel Santalla from Tulsa in straight sets with a 7-5, 6-4 decision.

In doubles play, Aguiard and partner Joao Ferreira posted a dominate performance against Tulsa, dropping just one game in the 6-1 matchup to help the Tide win the doubles point.

Aguiard holds a 6-2 record in singles play this spring and is on a three-match winning streak. He is coming off his second consecutive win with Ferreira, as the two hold a 5-2 dual-match record.

Girls win the 200 free relay, guys finished 5th. Women had already made the auto qualifying time, men were just over it... but probably will get in.

Morgan Scott also won the 50 free for the ladies. The women are sitting at 3rd currently, but damn close to 2nd.

Men still have the 50 free and 1 meter springboard diving left for the day. Will update once that's completed.

Edit: apparently Tennessee isn't gonna update results after the last event... so here's the men's scores minus diving. Shockingly we're up to 2nd, but that's not holding up after diving.

Alabama Swimming & Diving Continues to Roll on Day Two of the SEC Diving Championships

The Crimson Tide won two titles, earned five medals and broke school records in four different events on the second day of the championships

The Alabama swimming and diving team won two titles, earned five medals overall and set new school records in four different events on day two of the Southeastern Conference Championships being held in the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn., this week.

Morgan Scott, Cora Dupre, Kalia Antoniou and Kailyn Winter kicked off finals by winning the Crimson Tide's second relay title of the meet, taking top honors in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:26.93. It marks UA's second-consecutive SEC gold in the 200 freestyle relay.

Scott came back later in the night to win the 50 freestyle with a school-record time of 21.54 for her second individual SEC gold after taking top honors in the 100 freestyle title last season.

In the first individual event of the night, Kensey McMahon bettered her own school record to grab the silver medal in the women's 500 freestyle with a time of 4:38.34, bettering her school record in the event. It was her second SEC medal in the 500 after taking bronze as a sophomore.

Derek Maas took silver in the men's 200 individual medley with a time of 1:42.90, becoming the first Alabama swimmer to go sub 1:43 in the event and bettering his own school record from earlier this season.

Diana Petkova earned bronze in the women's 200 individual medley after posting a new school record of 1:56.01. It is her second SEC medal after taking bronze in the 100 breaststroke last season.

After two days of competition, the Alabama women are in third place with 367 points, just six points behind second place Georgia. The Tide men are also in third place after tallying 358 points, just two points behind second-place Texas A&M.

Head Coach Margo Geer Said
"We had another great day at the pool. We had a good morning and found ways to get better tonight. Very proud of our women's 200 freestyle relay, that was a battle to the very end and to have a freshman (Kailyn Winter) bring it home like that was big. We're also proud of the job that Morgan did in getting her hand on the wall first in the 50 free. Derek, Kensey and Diana all did a great job in moving up in their races tonight and making the podium. Having both (Mohamed) Farouk and Kevin (Li) make the A final in diving was huge, giving us some really valuable points in the team race. We're looking forward to tomorrow."

More Gold for Alabama Swimming and Diving on Day Four of the SEC Championships

The Crimson Tide earned six medals on the fourth day of the championships including three gold, one silver and two bronze

Alabama's medal count continues to soar at the 2022 Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, with the Crimson Tide totaling six medals, including three gold, one silver and two bronze, on the meet's fourth day. With one day of competition remaining, the Crimson Tide has already tallied 14 medals, including six gold.

Alabama capped a strong Friday with a pair of podium finishes in the day's final event, the 400 medley relay.

The UA women used a school, SEC and SEC Championship record swim from Rhyan White, Avery Wiseman, Morgan Scott and Cora Dupre to win the women's 400 medley relay, earning the Crimson Tide's third relay gold of the meet with a time of 3:26.64. The relay also combined to break the facility record with their swim.

The men also medaled to close the night, with Matt Menke, Derek Maas, Tyler Sesvold and Jonathan Berneburg going 3:03.58 in the 400 medley relay to take their second relay silver of the meet.

Earlier in the evening, White won her third-consecutive 100 backstroke title after going 50.18 to finish more than a second ahead of the field. With her second individual medal of the meet, White has now tallied six gold medals and two silver with one more individual race, the 200 backstroke, to go.

Maas shattered the school record in the men's 100 breaststroke to win his first SEC title, posting a 50.78 to finish nearly a half second ahead of second place. Maas is the first UA swimmer under 51 seconds in the 100 breaststroke, crushing the previous record, which he set in prelims. He also bettered the facility record, which he originally broke during Friday's prelims.

Menke earned his second-consecutive bronze medal in the men's 100 backstroke, turning in a time of 45.56, just out of second place. He dropped nearly a half second off his time from prelims to earn his spot on the podium.

Wiseman dropped nearly a second off her time from prelims to grab a spot on the podium after posting a 58.73 in finals and finishing third.

The Alabama men are in third place with 711 points, 28 points behind second-place Tennessee, while the Tide women are in fourth with 685 points, 27 points out of third.
