Johnathan Lawson is announcing his commitment on October 7th, but I don't think we are really in it for him. Landing Jusaun Holt probably pulled us away from giving Lawson a committable spot imo.

Alex Fudge is announcing his commitment on October 10th. I think he would absolutely be a take for us, but not sure we can get him. Two CB's are both for LSU and two future casts are both for LSU.

How many spots are we looking at having available?

I think the general feeling is somewhere around four or five with as many as six being possible with early departures and/or transfers.

Alabama trying to snag half of Duke basketball’s remaining 2021 targets (balldurham.com)

This was fun to read. Somebody from a Duke basketball blog actually wrote an article about Nate Oats and "the historically ho-hum hoops show in Tuscaloosa" being a legitimate threat to a blue blood on the recruiting trail.

I'm thinking that what the staff would like to sign is

PG - Davison
Wings - Holt, Cardet/Houstan
Bigs - Bediako/Wilson

That's obviously based on the known departures and can change based on guys having good enough seasons to go pro early or bad enough seasons that they want to transfer. Those seem to be the 6 guys we are after the hardest. I'm sure if we miss on a couple other names will emerge though. We seem very active in our pursuit of reclassification candidates, and there are always grad transfers to be had.

Eric Bossi left Rivals and is a National Recruiting Analyst for 247 now. He published an article this morning with this:

quote:

FIVE-STAR DAVISON IS LATEST, WON’T BE LAST FOR ‘BAMA

On Saturday, Alabama added another major piece when five-star JD Davison the top ranked point guard and No. 10 overall player in 247Sports 2021 rankings committed to Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide.

Perhaps the most exciting player in the senior class because of his freakish athleticism, Davison joins four-star wing Jusaun Holt in the Tide’s class and pushes them to No. 29 in the 247 team rankings. After landing the nation’s No. 12 ranked class in 2020, the momentum is continuing to build in Tuscaloosa and there is a good chance they could put together an even better class in 2021.

I would look for the Tide to add at least three more from the class of 2021 before all is said and done. Five-star shooter Caleb Houstan is a very realistic possibility, top 30 ranked big man Charles Bediako is looking like a Bama lean while four-star wing Wesley Cardet and junior college forward Langston Wilson – who I would be in favor of bumping to four-star status when we next update rankings – are also strong possibilities. There are other big names out there too, but the greater point is that Oats and his staff are proving to be all that they were said to be on the recruiting trail and that they are building a program that is loaded with versatile, high-end talent.

GaQuincy McKinstry will commit on October 25th. He’s a five-star football prospect but was regarded as a high-major hoops prospect as well.

His finalists: Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, LSU, and Alabama.

Likely to play both in college.

JD Davison is telling Bama fans on Twitter to get involved. JD is going to be a spark plug for this program.

2021 five-star Jabari Smith will announce his college decision this Friday, he tells me.

Choosing between: Georgia, Georgia Tech, UNC, Tennessee, Auburn, & LSU.

This one is very interesting imo.

ETA: G League is supposedly no longer an option.

Let’s talk about Shadeon Sharpe for a second. Because if you were at the Great Western Classic in American Fork, Utah, you heard plenty of conversation.

Sharpe was one of the most impressive players in attendance in the loaded event tucked away next to the mountains for this fall October weekend.

We’ve seen Sharpe before, getting a good view of him at the City of Palms Classic when he played for Sunrise Christian. Sharpe wowed us with his athletic ability there, too. But he took it up a notch with his new club Dream City Christian (AZ) with two of the most vicious dunks in traffic that I’ve seen in 2020.

Sharpe is making the up turn and It is happening right now.

Currently viewed as a top 125 nationally ranked player, Sharpe could be a guy that makes a push for the top 50 in the class of 2022. That rise could be happening sooner than later.

Not only does Sharpe posses next level top shelf athleticism, his perimeter game is getting better and better, too. His three-point shot was dropping at a regular clip here in American Fork. That development is huge. But make no mistake about it, his quick bounce and power that comes with it is the unique value in his overall skill set.

Sharpe, a native of London, Ontario, Canada, said he currently holds offers from Alabama, Cincinnati, Creighton, Grand Canyon, Minnesota and Xavier. Sharpe said he is also hearing from George Mason, Illinois, Maryland, Ohio State and South Carolina.

We’ve seen guys like Sharpe at this point of their playing development calendars. He’s at the stage where separation begins. He is trending upward and the coming months ahead with Dream City Christian’s schedule should provide him more opportunity to justify an uptick of opinion. From our point of view, he’s already doing his part.

Another Canadian.
