Really like this kid. I would be shocked if we landed him, but I think he's a lottery pick down the line.

Same. It seems like we were on him earlier than most, but his recruitment has really taken off since then.

It may not work out with this kid, but if they keep getting in early on these late riser types we will end up with our fair share. For every kid we recruit hard for 2+ years who signs with Kentucky like 3 weeks after Cal comes to one of his football games and offers him (not that I'm still bitter about that or anything), there is one like Sexton who could go anywhere but sticks with the teams that saw what he was a year before everyone else did.

Sounds like this will player will be announcing at 1pm. I'll say this, it will shock people. The G League is making a serious effort to build this pathway program and more players are listening

I'm just happy we aren't one of the teams having to sweat it out since Primo isn't 18 yet and therefore not eligible.

G League deal for Daishen Nix — arguably the best point guard in the 2021 NBA draft — is expected to be in the $300,000 range, sources said.

Nix was my favorite of the early guys we went after. Very well could have costed us Primo if we landed him.

Discussed last week that the pressure is not on someone like Jalen Green, but on others taking the G-League route. Nowhere to hide, cleanest evaluation method for pro scouts yet.

Also, will be interesting to see the relationship now between the NBA/G-League with college coaches. Belief that this new path was geared towards just those that had no plans on attending college. Today’s circumstances clearly show that it’s no longer the case.

No doubt, we'd be hurting today.

Yeah, kid is silky smooth. I was really hopeful we could get him too.

Yep, luckily it all worked out well for us.

I don't think it will change much for us because we don't traditionally sign a lot of guys who are NBA ready or close to it coming out of high school. I am very interested to see how guys like Cal and Coach K alter their recruiting practices to contend with the fact that the G-League is targeting the same kids they are, but with the ability to legitimately offer 6 figure salaries and the possiblity of shoe and apparel endorsement deals.

I agree with that, but we were heavily involved with Nix and Nimari Burnett, along with Marjon Beauchamp.

Was there ever a confirmation of what Burnett was offered? I just don't see them offering a bunch of money to a borderline 5* kid who is unlikely to be a 1 and done lottery pick. Maybe a little more than the standard G-League salary, which probably isn't enough to dissuade a guy from college. Those are generally the kind of players who end up at the top of our classes. From what I recall Beauchamp seems to have an idiot for a father who was, and I'm sure still is, giving him some downright horrible advice. I can see a bunch of dudes in the 20-50 range getting offers just because why not, but I'm guessing the compensation will only appeal to guys who are getting a lot of pressure from family or can't bear the thought of spending one more day in school, much less a couple of years.

Not sure, I haven't seen it anywhere.
