Imma gonna take the FOG approach to crootin' after the last 3 weeks. Ain't gonna worry 'bout shite! Oats got this. You can get on board, or get run over. Cause we comin'...WE COMIN'...and we ain't backin' down!

Joshua Morgan committed to USC, stayed out west as most assumed.

Man, Pettway mans the Southeast and Hodgson and Oats take care of the rest of the country/Canada........sounds like a good plan to me

Props to Hodgson and staff. I don’t think I ever questioned if we’d be able to recruit, it was just a matter of when. This system recruits itself. Pretty much every kid wants to play in an uptempo offense like ours. Oats proved that was the plan last year by taking one of the slowest offenses over the last decade and in one season making them top 5 in offensive tempo. We could have slowed things down (and maybe flipped a couple of those L’s to W’s) when we struggled with that transition to this offense early, but Nate stuck to his guns and we’re seeing the benefits in recruiting now.

So I did a little reading on Bruner. When he was 16, he was
a 6-8 point guard. He got hurt the next season, and when he came back, he was asked to play the post. That explains some of his dribbling and passing skills. If someone presses us next year, lob the ball in to him. If they trap him, he will pass over them. If they back off, he can take it up court. Probably lob it to him on in bounds passes some too.

Was kinda expecting to tread water next year if we lost Petty and Kira. But we could definitely take a step forward after this recruiting cycle

Are all of the guys coming definitely qualified academically?

We’ll have those conversations coming up, but I don’t know who they’ll be. Some of that will be determined by our own players, to be honest with you, and how much they want to compete with some guys that we’re bringing in.
I gotta admit, I'm not crazy about how he phrased that.

He says he's already had these conversations with the players. Apparently the only one that took the bait was Hawkins. Now he's bringing in 5 new players and may have to push out 2 more players, and it sounds like it may not be completely up to the player. Sorry, I'm not crazy about forcing players out. You've already had the conversation with certain players, you've offered all your resources to help them find a new place, but they've decided to stick it out and fight for a spot. Now you bring in 5 guys, and only have spots for possibly 3. That just doesn't sit right with me.

Well it's not little league, if they aren't good enough to play at this level and Oats can sign someone who is a big upgrade it's his job to do so, he was hired to win games.

Yet this is still college, and they still want to insist that these are amateurs.

It’s a business. Coaches don’t have the luxury of letting guys take up scholarships. Coaches are basically always on the hot seat and have to win.

I agree with you its fricked up but most of these guys aren't his guys so he really doesn't owe them anything.

They had an audition year last year so you can't say he didn't give them a chance to prove themselves

I'm thinking a few that will have to dip couldn't handle the dimes dropped by Bruner anyway.

What are the chances some of the guys looking at the draft (no idea why they would) see what's coming in and wanna stick around?
