Nimari’s decision is set for 1 EST.
Texas Tech seems to be the heavy favorite.

It’s realistic. He didn’t have much time before early signing to really establish good relationships and we only have a few open spots anyway. 2021 should be much more productive on and off the floor and there will be more spots open.

I’m not saying Oats did a bad job recruiting him, but it’s hard to use the lack of time excuse for Nimari. We’ve been in on him way longer than TT has. We just don’t have the appeal of recently playing in the championship game, though according to what Burnett has said, I’m sure he’ll be disappointed with the pace. You have to wonder, given his 3 priorities (PT, Championship Caliber, and Uptempo), if the loss against Penn changed his mind about deciding early.

Oats on targeted recruits signing this week: "If we don't get them, it won't be because of the lack of effort."
Also he noted that 2021 class is the main point of emphasis.
"We are going all in on some 2021 recruits."
Oof. Sounds to me like Jackson was a swing and a miss too. That’s a redirection if I’ve ever seen one. I’m glad we won last night, because otherwise this would’ve been the worst 10 day stretch of Alabama sports history I can recall.

Go ahead and forget about Nimari

I still think we get Jackson.
I’m 99% on Ambrose
I’m about 75% on Jackson
5% on Nimari
Last night during a press conference Oats alluded to a 4th guy... anybody know who that is? Bediako? Obeseki?

Pretty sure he’s referencing Bediako.

Yeah the Penn loss wasn’t good. It showed that we don’t have the pieces in place yet. I would counter that with telling him that 3 key pieces are missing: 2 due to injury and Q due to the fricktards in Indianapolis. Add those to the mix and this is a different, much more dangerous team. They will all be present next season. The problem is Texas Tech is just on a different level than us right now. To put it in FOG terms, in basketball, Tech is Bama and Bama is Tech. It’s easy to see why he is choosing them.
To be as close as we had hoped we would be, just about everything had to go right. Unfortunately, to this point, everything has gone wrong.

I would frankly be shocked if the Penn loss was even close to a factor in his decision making.

I would’ve said that before he decided to sign early, but he had indicated for a while he was signing late and emphasized wanting to play for a championship in his one year of college (possibly the reason he wanted to sign late). A loss to Penn may have not made a difference in the end as Tech had been trending over the last month or so, but I think it could have made a difference with him signing early.

Alabama target and 5-star guard Nimari Burnett has committed to Texas Tech. Not a huge surprise as Texas Tech gained momentum after Burnett pushed up his commitment date.
The next two commitments to watch are Isaiah Jackson on Saturday and Keon Ambrose-Hylton on Sunday.

Please let us get Isaiah Jackson

Hope he enjoys his time in Lubbock. What a hell hole.
I expect Jackson to Michigan.

It's between us, Kentucky, and Syracuse.

It’s between Bama and Kentucky and I’d give Bama a 60/40 lead

I think he is ours but if we don’t land him I’m guessing Oats is gonna try and get Bediako to reclassify?
Posted on 11/12/19 at 6:10 pm to mistaken4193
Give Oats a few years and we'll be in good shape to get more than one 5 star a year. He's got to show that he can turn us around and play fun basketball
