There's a misconception that his Buffalo players were great shooters. They weren't exceptional. Herb, with some coaching and confidence can shoot "good enough." Especially since, CNO is going to have to use what he has in year one.

Herb can force turnovers. He will play.
Over the last two years he has averaged one steal a game while turning it over twice a game.

Oats has said that he wants to have 4 shooters on the floor at once. Which means either his big or PG are allowed not to be a good shooter, but the other 4 ideally are in his system.
I don't see where Jones fits in, he is definitely not a shooter, pg, or a big.
I don't think he forces Jones out, just don't see him fitting into the new system at all.
If you put Herb in the gym i guarantee you he knocks down the three regularly. Just from looking at the drills Oats has on youtube he will get better.

Herb can play defense and force turnovers when the coach puts him on the ball handler. As far as his turnovers.we.should sit the entire team if you want to bring that up.

A lot of Jones' turnovers were because Avery was asking him to do things that he just can't do, just like Petty. If he continues to turn the ball over under Oats then I'll get on him, but as for now, I'm just going to put most of it on Avery

Herb is also a leader. He could be the guy getting everyone to go to the gym to work on their shot. He is valuable in that sense.

Let's look at the guys who got the most minutes for buffalo last year and how well they shot...
Dontay Caruthers - G - 37.5 3P%
C.J. Massinburg - G - 39.9 3P%
Montell McRae - G - 35.5 3P%
Nick PErkins - F - 37.1 3P%
Then you have their leading scorer Jeremy Harris who is more of a driver but still a career 34.2% from three.
So yeah it's not a misconception that they had shooters.
They weren't the 5th best scoring offense in college basketball by accident.

Maybe Oats will have Jones shooting better.

I doubt it, if you can't hit 50% of your free throws chances odds are you aren't gonna be a good three point shooter even with Phil Jackson coaching you.
We do have some guys who fit Oats system really well though which is great, Petty, Mack, Lewis, and Reese should really Flourish in this system.

I actually agree, I'm just trying to talk something into existence

Eh, you think those numbers are exceptional? I think they prove exactly what I said.
Either way, Herb will start next year. We don't have to argue about it. We can just wait and watch it come to fruition.

Texas Tech-Gonzaga is going to interesting. Chris Beard is a hell of a coach

Let me ask you this question. Do you think those guys shoot the same percentage if Avery coached them?
Posted on 3/30/19 at 4:31 pm to Cobrasize
Texas Tech's defense is insane and Gonzaga has the number 1 scoring offense in the country.
Gonna be interesting.
Number 1 scoring offense Vs the number 3 scoring defense.

Raymond Hawkins has been retweeting a ton of Bama stuff over the last couple of days, and nothing from other schools. I will be surprised if he doesn't pick Bama tonight.

I think it's pretty much a given he's Bama bound.

Any of y’all watched any video on him? Thoughts?

Got a really good Frame on him and looks comfortable with ball in hands.

I’m calling it now. Beard and Texas Tech take down the Zags and go to the Final Four
