MarJon Beauchamp, SF, ML20 Enforcers
Beauchamp has long been one of the top defenders in the 2020 class but his game definitely includes much more than just elite defense. While Beauchamp’s size, length, lateral quickness and feel make him an ideal defensive stopper, he also can score with his slashing ability and evolving jumper and is also a threat on the glass. Beauchamp has one of the highest floors in the 2020 class yet also has one of the highest upsides.
Recruiting: Beauchamp’s recruitment includes Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, UCLA, Washington and Washington State

So basically if we get him it will be by default and not because we were his 1st or 2nd choice.
The only reason LSU (and probably Memphis) is even in this is the money. You may love your job better than any other job in the world, but if you’re not making much money and someone offers you $300,000 to work elsewhere, you’d jump at that offer too.

The first and only live period of the spring went glowingly for 2020 point guard Deivon Smith. Playing for the Atlanta Celtics in the adidas Gauntlet, Smith showed is speed, athleticism, energy and natural talent. Perhaps what stood out the most was his facilitating, ability to operate in ball screen situations and his vision. “I feel like my high school we weren’t that good but I had to trust everybody,” Smith told 247Sports. “I can’t score all of the points so after I drive I get spots open and I create shots for others so I have been doing that a lot.”
quote:
“Smith is an athletic point guard who showed an impressive combination of physical tools, basketball IQ and toughness,” 247Sports analyst Josh Gershon said after watching him this weekend. “He used his outstanding vision to create for teammates while using his athleticism and motor to get to the basket and frustrate opposing guards on defense.”

From a recruiting standpoint, Smith, a standout at Loganville (Ga.) Grayson, things have taken off. Smith said Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, Oregon and Xavier have made him a priority. He's taken unofficial visits to Georgia, Georgia Tech and Louisville.
“Kentucky recently called, Coach [Kenny] Payne, LSU, that’s about it,” Smith noted. While he hasn’t from Syracuse or Duke, he said they are two schools that he’s followed closely. “I used to like Syracuse when I was younger,” Smith said. “I used to like watching Carmelo [Anthony] but I kind of like Duke a lot now.”

Smith is currently regarded as the No. 53 overall prospect and the No. 8 point guard in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Memphis was the favorite to sign him before Wade even got suspended the first time. LSU became the favorite after the date got pushed back.
Memphis was the favorite for a while, but LSU was considered the favorite among the top recruiting experts and had the CB momentum right before the wiretaps dropped. Then Memphis. Then LSU when Wade was reinstated.

Not sure there's a team with as much to gain in spring recruiting as Memphis. Tigers are still firmly in the mix for RJ Hampton, Trendon Watford, and Precious Achiuwa. All are Five-Star prospects.

Memphis was still the heavy favorite when Wade got suspended.
LSU became the favorite around the time it became apparent that RJ Hampton was going to reclassify to 2019 and they weren't gonna have room for Precious, Hampton, and Watford.

Does Precious have an announcement date set?
I’m sorry, with a name like that, I expect a pole and some funky music somewhere.

Adam Zagoria of Zag’s Blog recently published an article detailing five key things for this recruiting period including the decisions left for the trio. He had a pretty interesting nugget suggesting that Achiuwa might be the last recruit to announce.
“Me and my family were thinking about late May, maybe around that time,” he said of a decision timeline.

I am not confrontational, just telling you he is not going overseas. He just said today he will be choosing between Kansas, Kentucky, Texas Tech and Memphis.

Memphis is gonna give RJ Hampton more money than he could make overseas.

I remember I got down-voted by like 8 people a month ago when I said Memphis is gonna have one of the best college recruiting classes in recent history, but it's shaping up that way. If they Get Precious and Hampton, which they are both the favorite for, they would give them three top 13 recruits, including the number 1 player.
Would give them three 5 stars and three 4 stars in this class, and that's with potentially turning away Watford, who is a top 50 player, because they don't have enough room for him.
The early signing period is gonna bite them, I guarantee they would trade Watford for Baugh or Dandridge but can't at this point because both already signed.
