Hell even out AD is a FOG apparently.
I'm glad he went our and hired us a guy who seems to be a great coach but unless he starts putting money into the basketball program it's gonna be really hard to compete with Kentucky, Florida, and even teams like Auburn who have recently started investing heavily in the Bball programs.

We’ve been abused so many times. I remember sitting in the car, listening to Pearl’s directional Wisconsin team put us out of the tournament. I thought that was about as low as I could get. Haaaaaaaaaaaa
Every pundit in AMERICA picked us to lose that 12/5 game. I thought that if ever a Gottfried team would show up pissed off to prove themselves that would be it ..........
And we literally showed up and did exactly what America told us we were gonna do - played like pvssies.

Mal and Battle were FOGs. I appreciate what Mal did getting Saban here, but damn

We are underdogs tomorrow. Ole Miss -2.5.

Mal cared about basketball. He tried. He wasn't good at it, but he tried. I mean he hired Grant and Grant was the hot coach at the time. He did the Coleman upgrade that we all laugh at but he spent a bunch of money on it. Hell, Mal paid Gottfried more than Shula!
Battle was a fvckin idiot.

It broke my heart. I was at work, sitting in my car, dirty as hell and that hurt so bad that I wanted to just go home

I look back on it and realize how I should have been more grateful......but my gosh I used to hate watch Gottfried teams.
No defense, lazy, iso centric offense, so much wasted talent, knew exactly what was coming in the NCAAT.

Ueah we have had AD’s in the past who cared about the bball program a lot which makes it hard to believe that we cant even get our crappy arena upgraded for 3 or 4 more years. Its not like basketball doesn’t bring in money it’s a huge sport. March Madness is really huge.

Gottfried had potential final 4 teams during his run.
Just poorly led by an arrogant, overrated coach at the time.

In the lat 80s and early 90s, March Madness was wonderful. We always had a dangerous team

Gottfired had some very talented teams. It’s amazing when you look back

Yeah, we were usually in the dance back then.
Many sweet 16's.
Maybe someday those fun days will return.

You’d think Auburn making the final 4 and being ranked in the top 10 most of this season would push Byrnes hand to invest in the bball program. Sabans success in Football sure pushed Auburn to try harder to be good in football.
Theyve had one of their most successful 10 year stretch in football these last 10 years. If not the most sucessful.

Byrnes is not a FOG, cut that isht out. I wonder what our next contract negotiating with Nike is going to be like. "You owe us money."

FOGs control the money Byrne spends the money on what they tell him to.

That’s not bad. Definitely a winnable game. I’m ready to be hurt again.

I actually like Byrne a lot and think he is a good AD glad we have him.
I love football too and I knew we have the best CFB coach of all time but we are falling behind in Bball. Its time to put some money into it again. Some of us would like to be good at both sports.

Coaches used to get more time because players leaving before their eligibility was exhausted was a rarity. They had to have time to recruit and develop a roster of upperclassmen to compete with other upperclassmen laden teams. Nowadays Calipari turns his whole roster in 2 years, you have the transfer portal, every kid thinks they are a one and done, etc. College basketball ain’t what it used to be. If you can’t make waves in year two or at least look close, you aren’t gonna last.

We'd better give Oats more than two years or I'm burning this mfer down.
