I know that we left TAMU wide open for some threes last night that they hit but what about the insane ones they were hitting with a hand in their face as the shot clock expired, sometimes banking them in. That was crazy.

They hit a couple of those in the last five minutes.

Yea they got some good looks and they also made some prayers. It was just their night offensively.

I think Oats did that by design. I think the game plan was to not let them inside and give them a little room outside because they shoot so poorly....and just our luck they made them. And then late in the game after they made a few that we had to respect them they started going inside to Nebo and Galin/Reese had no chance because they suck

SC is 10th in all time win percentage among SEC teams in football. We are 2nd in basketball behind Kentucky in all time win percentage.

Cool man! But, the most important stat to judge a programs success or lack there of...

Both are 0-Time National Champions.

Not sure about that because he called a timeout at one point and lit into them for not defending the 3-point line.

I hate it when people say a coach will be successful when he gets his guys in the program. The players you are currently coaching are your guys regardless of when you got there.

How can the son of a successful collegiate coach not know the difference? Is this supposed to be funny and I just didn't get it? Makes him sound like moron.

If your going purely by National Championships, then we are equal to a whole bunch of quality programs.

Half of the top ten in the NET rankings have zero national championships so we're doing pretty good.

If you want a college football comparison for our basketball team it's probably something more like UCLA.

Overshadowed by a historically successful other major program but also historically in the top third of the conference.

I'm already over last night.....I mean I'm over the season too, because I understand what the loss meant, but I'm not even sad anymore.

I dunno if it's wearing me down, I never truly believed this group would get over the hump or what but I'm pretty much over it.

The only part that sucks is just thinking about how awesome the tournament is when you are in it. It sucks to not have that feeling.

I don't think it's so much that Oats needs to get his guys that he needs more than a year to change the culture. I think he could've won with these guys this year had Rojas, Gary and then Herb not gotten inured. People can say it's making excuses but I truly believe that. I think we could've overcame any one of those injuries, maybe even two, but not all three.

It's rare than a coach comes into a team that's a been borderline of not making the postseason for 10 years and kicks arse year one.

It took Rick Barnes til year 3 to turn around Tennessee, Will Wade til year two at LSU. I know every situation is different but in Football or Basketball it's rare a coach comes in and has a ton of success year one unless it's a top program already.

Year two a lot of times you see a big jump if the coach is indeed a good coach.

Yeah this year is a wash. We looked good at times, it was easy to believe and makes it more frustrating. I hope we can get better the rest of the year and keep building.

I’m still disappointed. Last night had all of the things that I didn’t want to see this season.

Something Avery said last year after either the Arky or TAMU game came to mind last night. He was talking about how he wished the players would get up for the lesser teams we play like they get up for the good ones. Seemed to be the case again last night. Oats said after the game that Beetle was really the only one that had a good week of practice.
This same core group of players has blown it down the stretch this same way the last two seasons. Really the last 3, We blew it 3 years ago too but Sexton saved us vs TAMU in the SECT.

Oat's has gotta get it figured out, he's got some work ahead of him to do before next year if we want to get where we want to go.

I can't believe some of you are blaming Oats. Did you blame Saban for losing to La Monroe in 2007 with a bunch of malcontents on the team? I'm not saying the basketball players are cancers, but I do think they have a real problem with success that starts between the ears. Time and time again the last 3 years, most of these same players have been presented with opportunities to greatly improve their chances at making the tournament against teams we should easily handle. They get back on track with a big win (LSU) and blow it again with an also-ran (aTm). Did Oats coach a perfect game? No, he did not. But he put them in a position to win the game and they couldn't take advantage of it, just like they haven't been able to for 3 seasons. That's mental and that's on the team.

Oats has to change the culture. I thought that change had begun and was well on the way. I was wrong. It's in embryonic stage. The coaching staff has to do their part; they have to present ways to help change the mindset and the mental aspects of the game. But at the end of the day, it's the players that have to give the buy-in. It's obvious that most have not, at least not in a deep heartfelt way that creates change. They gave it lip service and window dressing but when the chips were on the table again, same result.

I hope Oats makes the off season like boot camp at Camp Lejeune. Either dedicate yourself to the program and yourself and get better or leave. No more half-assing it.
Run 'em off if they won't buy in. Program needs a total reset. If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Saban had to do it to cleanse the football program. The basketball program is a decade overdue for a spring cleaning.

I’m not blaming Oats. I think he is a fantastic HC...maybe the best we have had since Wimp. He has got to get the loser mentality out of this program/fanbase. I’m just not gonna make proclamations/statements anymore until I see it. Because I also thought Grant and Avery was gonna fix us.

The spring cleaning and the culling is likely to happen. Cecil Hurt tweeted that Oats may sign 3-4 players this year. Which means 2-3 players will have to go.

Beetle and Kira are for sure gone
50/50 on Petty but I hope he comes back.
Galin probably grad transfers somewhere.

I hope we can get Keon Ellis and Primo, I like both a lot. Those two and a grad transfer big who could start right away would be amazing.
