Oats was on finebum and was asked about the crowd. Oats said they were very loud, lots of energy. He said our fans are not right there on the floor like they are at Auburn, but someday we will fix that, but its still a great venue to play.

He made some comments about Coleman on Jox too this morning.
Said it was loud for LSU but compared to Auburn's it's not very well laid out.

I’m happy Oats has that in mind for the rebuild. I honestly would take an exact replica of Auburn Arena with about 2000 more seats

Oats brought up the point on Finebaum, that we are 6 and 6 in conference and last year through 12 SEC games Auburn was also 6 and 6, then ended up making the final four.
He obviously wasn't implying that we were gonna make the final 4, but still...

He really liked the way Auburns students were lined up around 75% of the court right there on the floor, said that's the plan for Coleman too.

I like Ole Miss's new arena better than Auburn's. Their student section isn't visible on TV though, I don't think, but there is student seating right next to the court.

Nah stick Tide Pride on the non-tv side. We get good student turnout for every game that classes are in session. And that’s with half the section being bad seats

I guess that I am old school but I think the committee will struggle to put a team (ARK, 4-8) with a losing conference record in ahead of teams with a winning record. But that works against Ala unless they go on a run because State, FLA and SC have far better conference marks. Guess I just don't believe that NET is so much more important than RPI, BPI, or Ken-Pom. There is a wide disparity between our rankings under those metrics. But if Tide closes with a 11-7 conf record, has a win in the sec tourney and plays well down the stretch I feel good about our chances with 20 wins on the season.

You're reading too much into the current conference standings, there are still 6 games left a lot can happen
Florida and SC are 8 and 4 and Miss St is 7 and 5. That's not far better than 6 and 6. We also have beat miss st, so at worse they beat us and tie the series and if we beat SC we have the tie breaker vs them. Out of the 6 games we have left we will be favored in 5 of them, we finish the conference 10 and 8 or 11 and 7 it's gonna look a lot different than it does now.

Stick the big money tide pride guys in the boxes and on the floor. Put the rest opposite tv side. In fact, put the benches in site of the TV and put the students behind the benches.

Bottom line is we need to win the games we should(A&M, Vandy, & Mizzou) and we need to win at least one of the South Carolina or Miss State game.
I don't think the Ole Miss game will be that important unless we lose to A&M Wednesday. Meaning, I think it's a game we can lose and still make the tourney if we beat either Miss St or South Carolina.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there's an SEC rule against putting students behind the opponent's bench.

We have a pretty easy schedule left compared to most of the teams in the conference. I could see SC, Miss St and UF finishing out 3 and 3.

Florida's is an absolute bear

Our current road record is 3-6. Granted we lost 3 of those away games to ranked teams in conference at LSU, AUB and KY. We also lost at Penn St and at RI. All those are tournament teams. If Miss St, Belmont, Richmond, AUB and LSU make the tournament we would have 5 wins over NCAA teams. Could be 6 if we beat SC and they also make tourney. Could add a win over additional team if we win two in the SEC tourney. Not much room for error during the last portion of the season. Would surely improve our confidence with some road wins down the stretch. I am hopeful but not confident that this team can overcome all the adversity that it has faced this season. Would be a powerful start to the Oats Era to make the tournament this year

SC isn't gonna get in regardless of where they finish in the SEC, they have two horrible OOC losses. SEC standings are not the end all of who gets in the tournament, we played probably the toughest ooc schedule in the SEC and got some good wins. That will play a big factor. We are literally a lock to get in the tournament if we get to 19 wins. Even if we get 18 most think we have over a 90% chance to get in.
You seem knowledgeable and I don't blame you for your pessimism regarding Alabama basketball. We should be in as long as we beat the teams we should beat from here on out. Whether we beat them or not is another discussion, I think we will if we play like we have been playing the last two games.

Per the NET we've played the #5 SOS in the country, #35 OOC SOS
That will take a bit of a hit down the stretch, but it's still going to be really high at the end.
