Offensively that half was brutal. We need to improve greatly in order to suck. I will slash my wrists before enduring 20 more points in 20 more minutes.

Can we get to 18 wins before the SEC? Can we get Petty back for our next two games? So you are saying there is a chance.

What would this team look like with a Antonio McDyess, Chuck Davis or Erwin Dudley? Can you imagine an Ennis Whatley at point?
Kira played his arse off tonight. Petty is not only an essential scorer, he is our second best defender and rebounder. We can't win without a healthy Kira, Petty, Herb and Shack. This team is too thin.
I have not given up on Reese but he was pitiful tonight. He couldn't guard his shadow. He is playing hurt so I will cut him some slack. He will have surgery after the season on his hip.

No energy in the building. No sense of urgency, we are just going through the motions.

What were the NET rankings of the final 8 at large teams last year? That might go a long way toward making me more confident we make the tourney this year with 18 wins.
I really want to believe because I think 18 wins is doable.
We do have some quality close losses but we took a while to find our way in a new system and we lost to TN and ARK without Herb. Kira is playing vastly better. Shack seems to have more confidence, and Reese has improved also. We have fewer turnovers, our defense has improved and at times our rebounding is better. If we can continue to defend without fouling, stay close to even on the boards, and make 35-40% of our threes, we can play with most anyone. We have to have a positive contribution from our bigs, Beetle has to play within himself, and Forbes needs to give us 10-15 quality minutes. If Petty goes off we can really shine, but his role was altered without Herb, as he had to defend the best scorer for our opponent. Hopefully he can find his offense going forward. He really hasn't taken many shots lately.

Our current road record is 3-6. Granted we lost 3 of those away games to ranked teams in conference at LSU, AUB and KY. We also lost at Penn St and at RI. All those are tournament teams. If Miss St, Belmont, Richmond, AUB and LSU make the tournament we would have 5 wins over NCAA teams. Could be 6 if we beat SC and they also make tourney. Could add a win over additional team if we win two in the SEC tourney. Not much room for error during the last portion of the season. Would surely improve our confidence with some road wins down the stretch. I am hopeful but not confident that this team can overcome all the adversity that it has faced this season. Would be a powerful start to the Oats Era to make the tournament this year

I guess that I am old school but I think the committee will struggle to put a team (ARK, 4-8) with a losing conference record in ahead of teams with a winning record. But that works against Ala unless they go on a run because State, FLA and SC have far better conference marks. Guess I just don't believe that NET is so much more important than RPI, BPI, or Ken-Pom. There is a wide disparity between our rankings under those metrics. But if Tide closes with a 11-7 conf record, has a win in the sec tourney and plays well down the stretch I feel good about our chances with 20 wins on the season.

I hate to say it, but I think our chances to get a bid depend on whether we can defeat the sec teams who may be ahead of us, like Miss State and SC. They have better conference records than us, better overall records, and are probably ahead of us on the bracket curve. Tall order and a lot of pressure on a very weary and fragile team. Are we mentally tough enough to gut out road wins in the SEC? I hope so, but we sure have not proven to be yet.Probably 8 teams fighting for 5 spots. I expect that only 2 teams from ALA, ARK, FLA, MISS ST, and SC get in the NCAA. Realistically we probably need at least 6 more wins including the SEC tourney to feel comfortable.

We don't win that game without Herb's 16 rebounds, 6 points and 3 assists. He also had ton of blocks, charges taken and deflections and steals. Galin had 10 points, was 6-7 from the line and had 6 rebounds. Easily his best game. Kira and Shack carried us offensively but Herb was the difference in this one.

We need to put JQ in a Mission Impossible mask and get him on the floor as one of our walk-ons. LOL Can't wait to see him on the court. Can you imagine a lineup of JQ, Kira, JP, Herb and a healthy Reese. Would be fun to watch.

So we won in OT after we committed fewer team fouls than GA, (19-24), had fewer turnovers(13-14) and was only outrebounded by 6 (35-41). In my view, these are the key areas determining our future success. I dare say that if you look at our losses, they would all show how we got whipped badly in one or more of these areas.

I don't know what is more frustrating, the fact that we can't defend without fouling, our careless turnovers, or the way the other team out rebounds us on their offensive glass. If we could just even that up we we be so much more competitive. We are losing at the free throw line and the other team has 20 more shot attempts than we do because of turnovers and offensive rebounds.

It is basically pitch til you win the way they are getting offensive rebounds.

I think Reese could develop into one of Bama's most dangerous players. He can guard a 5 and is a matchup nightmare for someone like Wiley. He forces a big to guard in space and opens the middle for Kira and Herb.
He can put it on the floor and finish. He is not limited like Galin to post up moves but he can play in space.
Herb is improving every game. He really is a swiss army knife. If he ever developed a consistent outside stroke he could be a first rounder.
Kira is hard to stay in front of but he needs to get stronger so that he can become a better finisher.
Shackleford shows flashes but he forces too many shots on his drives, takes too many bad shots trying to draw a foul.Hoping he matures quickly, lets the game come more to him.
Petty has improved in every area, and he and Herb are both killing it on defense. Petty has improved in every aspect of his game, passing, rebounding, defending, penetrating.
Our improved defense and reduced turnovers have given our guys confidence that they can play with anyone. We lack depth and have to stay out of foul trouble, If we can avoid injury, I think we can make the tourney and even make some noise in Oats first year.
Roll MF Tide!

The Davidson Kid is the real deal. I don't know if we can get him. Duke has offered him. He could excel in Oats' style of play.

I like the pace of play but you still have to defend, rebound and take care of the basketball. A quick shot is not necessarily a good shot. I want Bama to take the first good shot.
Petty sure looks at home in the Bahamas.

I think any list from Alabama should include Reggie "Mule" King, Ennis Whatley and James "Hollywood" Robinson.

Awesome guy on and off the court, Very big in the FCA, lives his life like a role model. Can't say enough about his effort on the court. His weakness seems that sometimes he tries to do too much and does not let the game come to him. However, his teammates sometimes just stand and watch when he goes to the rim.
