Tommy Rees...

I didn't like the hire because I never thought he developed anybody at Notre Dame but with that being said...
I think he's DEVELOPED Jalen Milroe a little bit and I also think yesterday...Rees called a good game and anybody who's saying he didn't is lying. Was he great? No! But he was good.
Jalen Milroe was absolutely TERRIBLE the second half. He missed so many WIDE open guys it was pitiful.
If he completes just some of the passes in the second half...we win by two or more touchdowns.
Jalen Milroe has to be better with his ACCURACY period. You can't be accurate as hell one half and totally hit rock bottom the next.

Milroe is a flawed, inconsistent player. Our best case scenario is for the running game to be able to take over some of these games but we just can’t.
However, we ran the ball better yesterday and I thought Rees could’ve made the ending less stressful by leaning into it more. In those 3 and outs we were passing 2/3 downs. Would’ve liked to seen that reversed with the lead we had. I will admit that hindsight is 20/20.
Milroe is better than he was five weeks ago but he needs to be better or we could lose every conference game left on the schedule.

I have a low regard of Tommy Rees but yesterday was his best as OC though it didn't show up on the scoreboard. Still had this bout of abandoning things that work before the opponents demonstrates they can stop it. With such a limited QB and OL, you gotta keep calling effective run plays until the defense takes it away from you. Even so, both of Milroe's TD passes were essentially thanks to the OC predicting or scheming the opponent into an exploitable defense. In the possession before things started going to hell, Rees called two TD in 3 plays if the QB threw a better ball.
I've said elsewhere, you don't underperform like this without the convergence of several problems. Rees' playcalling has been a big part of the problem but it was the least culpable against Arkansas. Poor OL play, particularly at LT, and inconsistent QB play were the biggest culprit this weekend.

My post history will show that I am not a Milroe or Rees defender, but you can’t have both QB development and run the ball until they stop it against a defense like Arkansas. You can do one or the other.
Rees went into the 2nd half thinking use the full play book to get Milroe more game reps, since the final outcome of the game was likely not in doubt (and that he could just pound it again if needed). I’m good with that thinking, because if Milroe can’t do it against Arky, how is he going to be able to do it against better defenses.
You saw what happened, and we weren’t able to get momentum back until the clock killing drive at the end. If the score wasn’t so lopsided, I would be more upset with Rees. With our QB situation and the OL needing pass pro reps, he did the right thing. (Opposite would be Michigan against Indiana. McCarthy doesn’t need reps…just run the ball and don’t put his health in jeopardy.)
The scary part was how bad Milroe was. The guy takes 1.5 steps forward and 1.4 steps back…lol

Milroe thinks waaayy too much. You can't pass when you are micro-critiquing your own motion.

You do what you need to do to win the game. Rees got cute. If Milroe needs more reps then go good against good in practice. That would be better reps than Arkansas anyway.
