I hope it's not true. Please tell me he can play.

Seems much more like a suspension than an injury.
I don't know. They called it a medical condition, not an injury.
Hopefully, it is something like the flu that has a longer recovery time.
It would be nice to beat Oregon but it will be hard to win that game even with Hale. I'm taking the "glass is way past half full" attitude. Whether he plays Monday or not, Bama will all but certainly be no worse than 9-3 entering conference play. If he is back by then, all will be well.

Head Coach Avery Johnson
Opening Statement:
“What a terrific second half for our team. First half
(Keon) Johnson got away from us – 17 points in the
first half. We talked about how we wanted to minimize
his production in the second half. Fortunately, we
switched Retin Obasohan, reigning SEC Player of the
Week, on him and Retin did a phenomenal job defensively.”
On Retin Obasohan’s performance:
“That’s something that I’ve been taking a long, hard
look at. When a guy gets two fouls like that early in the
half, do you come back with him or save him for the
second half? So, I brought him back in around the four
minute mark for a minute. I just didn’t like the way it
looked and he means so much to our team, so I got
him out because we are going to need all three of those
fouls in the second half and we’re going to need him
defensively. And, fortunately, as a co-captain he came
out, accepted the challenge, just like our other co-captain,
Jimmie Taylor did, and both of them put together
a pretty nice game for us”
On Brandon Austin’s performance:
“Brandon was very active tonight, lots of energy. I was
trying to get him to go to the glass a little bit more and
use his athleticism. We made a big point of emphasis
on going to the glass. I don’t know how many offensive
rebounds – we only got 10 tonight after getting 21 in
our last game, but that’s a big point of emphasis for
us. We’re going to need Brandon in the wing position
to get some, but we like his energy. He provided some
scoring for us off the bench and it was a nice team effort.”
On Justin Coleman’s performance:
”One of the things that I share with him is, when you
have a guy that’s the major focal point of the opposition’s
offense like Johnson, their point guard, the way
you attack him is not just defending him,
but attacking him when he’s on defense.
So we put him in a lot of different
situations, a lot of screening situations. We ran
him off picks off the baseline. We tried to work him as
much as we can and fortunately Justin took and made
some big shots for us.”
On playing through adversity:
“That’s something I talked to them about in the locker
room. We had a tough learning lesson at Dayton and
that was something that was purposely scheduled by
me. I knew it was going to be an uphill battle, and I
liked the way we bounced back. We played a good first
half of basketball against a team that’s ranked 10th in
the country right now (Xavier), and then there was
a four to six minute stretch in that game in Florida
where it kind of got away from us and I was a little bit
disappointed. But I also was proud of our team, the
way we bounced back the next two games. So, yes,
we’ve gotten guys injured. Shannon’s out for medical
reasons and look at how our team came out and put
together a nice game back at the friendly confines of
Coleman Coliseum. So, it’s good to be back home.”

#10 Jimmie Taylor, Forward
On what worked for him in tonight’s game:
“I’d like to credit all of my teammates for finding me
on the pick and rolls. Like coach said, I tried to set
great screens. Setting those great screens helped get me
open, and my teammates were able to find me.”
On the absence of Shannon Hale:
“We all needed to step up. Unfortunately, Shannon
(Hale) wasn’t with us, but we just all pulled it out for
him tonight.”

#5 Justin Coleman, Guard
On the energetic start in the second half:
“Coach Johnson is big on bringing energy to the team,
so in the second half, he brought a lot of energy and
enthusiasm. I had to play a big role, Retin (Obasohan)
had to play a big role, and so did Jimmie (Taylor) in
bringing energy to the team and getting our guys up
for the second half.”
On the big run at the beginning of the second half:
“It was a game plan we had. Coach Johnson is great at
game planning, and he is a very smart coach. We came
out and executed the game plan, and that helped us get
on a run.”

Head Coach Pat Kelsey
Opening Statement:
“First of all, I want to credit Coach Johnson and his
players for executing their game plan. I think that was,
and I’m not going to speak for them, but that was the
‘try to go for our teeth,’ method as we like to say. They
tried to impose their will from a physical standpoint.
Honestly, that is what we prepared for going into the
game, and they were able to do that for the first 20
minutes. For the most part, we did our best to negate
that. In that first 10 minutes of the second half it was a
different story. They were scoring the ball at will [and]
at the rim, and that’s all she wrote. I felt like the last 10
minutes we defended a little better and we were able to
chip away at the lead a little bit. At the end of the day,
I think it was won down in the trenches, close to the
basket. I credit them for that.”
On Jimmie Taylor’s play:
“You know, he’s a big physical kid. We have a young
man, Dube Okeke, who broke his wrist, and he gives
us a big physical presence close to the basket. [He’s] a
shot blocker. He wasn’t able to play tonight, so we had
to play quite a bit of small ball. [We had] to try to do
various things to try and get out of the post and posttrap.
He scared me just because of his size, length and
ability to obviously score over us close to the basket.
I liked him on tape. He obviously scared me. He does
some really good things. He’s got nice touch around
the basket. He’s huge as well. I think he’s a really good
player. Obviously he had a very good game against us
tonight.”
On Justin Coleman’s play:
“We talked about him on tape. He’s like a microwave.
He can heat up quick. If you let him get momentum
and get some confidence he can really, really fill it up.
He started to gain a little confidence. Obviously, he’s
very slippery and fast off the dribble. It’s difficult to
keep him out of the paint. He did a good job spreading
to open three-point shooters, but obviously he’s a guy
that can put the ball in the basket as well.”

My favorite thing about this team is, I don't know what it's called, but when they have the ball, it looks like they might of had some meetings and talked about what to do if a situation like that arose in a game. Like, one guy will be moving without the ball, and the other guy with the ball seems to know what the first guy is going to do, and he responds and gets him the ball when he's open and stuff. I think I've heard other basketball fans call that "offense" or "a play". It's fun to watch.
