You also forgot that CAJ's son will be eligible to play. He's a PG is he not?

Yea, but he isn't much beyond a role player at best.

His high school tape looks pretty good. Seems like he could be a solid PG if he has help around him.

I am so fricking ready for Ferguson and Key to get here. The talent disparity was so evident last night. Even with thr team fighting hard, they can't overcome players like Murray and Ulis pulling up jumpers from anywhere in the court and draining them. It's demoralizing.

Worst part: Vandy is trending in the right direction. They need to lose to Kentucky and A&M.

Lunardi doesn't even have us as the first four out.

*edit, Nvm I think he still does.

That was painful last night. I can't remember the last time we took so many bad shots and shot that many air balls. It's like we were intimidated by Rupp.

Much credit to Kentucky's defense. They've shut us down both times this year.

At this point, I think we have to win out (including Georgia). Lose one and we'll have to win a couple in the tournament. Lose two and we're done.

Honestly, at this point, it is really pretty simple.

Win the last 3 games. Don't get upset in the SEC Tournament. IF we do that, we are probably in either the play-in game or as a 10-11 seed.

If we lose to Georgia we will then have to beat either Kentucky or Texas A&M (after beating Georgia first, in the tournament, probably).

Yep, pretty simple I think.

Here are 6 of them (RPI rank)

#4 Oregon (N)
#6 Xavier (N)
#11 Kentucky (A)
#11 Kentucky (H)
#17 Dayton (A)
#32 South Carolina (A)

Too many bad losses and they're adding up. You can lose to Kentucky, but you have to keep it within 16. The losses to Ole Miss, Miss State and Auburn are killers. So many close losses.

We have to sign Ferguson. Retin is damn good, but he's worthless when Norris goes cold and no one else on the court can hit a shot to save their life. Our lack of depth is showing late in the season.

I think the only killer in there is Mississippi State. Ole Miss is a respectible loss. Their RPI isn't great, but it is Top 100, it was a road game and they will win 18-20 games.

The loss to Auburn is bad, but you can afford one bad loss if it is on the road.

State is a crusher. Bad RPI loss and it was at home.

We had a lead and couldn't close it out. Same with LSU at home and Oregon in Birmingham. Hopeful that the players we've got coming in will be the difference next year and we can finish teams off. If we had done so this year, we'd be over 20 wins and have room for error instead of having to win out and hope for the collapses of other bubble teams.

Yea, I mean, it sucked to lose those games, but in terms of getting in the tournament or not is what I was saying.

Also, this is year 1 of a new guy coming into a program with a mentality of breaking down late in games. It is very similar to what Saban had to do with the Shula mentality. We have won some that way (Clemson, Wichita, ND, @ State, A&M) and we have lost some the old way (LSU, Oregon, Ole Miss).

I'm not sure anything is that simple when discussing the bubble. It depends on what so many other teams do that it's hard to speak in absolutes. I can see a scenario where 2-1 down the stretch gets us in and I can even see a scenario where we go 3-0 and get left out. Hopefully bubble teams lose a lot in the next two weeks.

Yep. That's in in a nutshell.

We're in the same place we were 1 week ago - win 3 games and go dancing. The only real difference is that a week ago one of them didn't have to be on the road in Athens.

And I must confess, I think the losing streak is my fault. I've had to miss watching the last 2 games and this shait happens.

This. I think it was 2011 where the "bracketologists" all had Alabama/Georgia as a play in game in the tournament. Alabama won and everyone assumed we were in, but we got left out based on the unexpected.

If we somehow win four games before selection Sunday, we're in. Anything less will require some help.

I don't know, I think if we finish 3-0, beat Tennessee or Mississippi State in the 1st round in Nashville, lose to Texas A&M and finish with an RPI of 40ish we would be pretty solidly in good shape.

Doesn't mean we won't get left out, but in the world of the bubble I think we could feel pretty good about things.

Yes, that is true, but there was always the nagging question about our RPI. For us to be picked would have broken a lot of traditional RPI unspoken rules. Our resume this year is very much in line with past resumes that make the cut. Doesn't mean we will, but we aren't trying to be the exception to the rule this time around.

Either way, we just have to win our games.
