Tough loss, but the boys played hard and fought back and made it a game.

Anybody else like the announcer? Lover his commentary.

Ok guys I know this loss hurts and the end of the game turned out how it usually does with us collapsing BUT, we started Hall tonight and he went OFF. We showed some fight and came back from 14 down at #24 Oregon to take the lead. Oregon has now won 31 straight at home I think. Now, I'm not happy we lost, and I'm not into moral victories, but I'm not completely disappointed with tonight. We actually looked a little better overall minus the last minute collapse. We should beat Clemson and Ark St and finish the nonconference play with no more losses

I honestly think we're better than Clemson and Ark St, plus we get them basically at home. Then the rest of our non conference schedule is full of cupcakes. I think we'll win the rest

Holy shite, we have a bunch of negative basketball fans. Alabama basketball is NOT Alabama football. It will take time. We can't just plug in a coach and one recruiting class and then return to some traditional dominance. CAJ basically has to build it all from scratch, assuming he's the coach that can do it.

At the beginning of the year, I thought we had enough talent on the team to be pretty good. Now, it's apparent that we have a team full of role players at this point. Ingram and Key might grow into more, but right now, we just don't have much in the way of skilled offensive players. However, I think they're getting better, and most of the losses have been respectable. We desperately need Hall, or someone, anyone, to play well inside. If Hall can play like he did last night, it will make a big difference in some games.

I also think we rely on outside shots too much. We need to drive to the basket more with the intent to score. That should produce some points, AND help open up the outside shots more.

It is easy to buy the hype early, just have to remember that it takes years to build culture, identity and roster talent from scratch

Yep. We're still playing with a ton of the former coaches players, and (as much as I hate to say it) they've never really been too good. Hall is really the only one from the last coach who's providing us anything. Once Avery gets a team full of his players, or almost full like next year, then we will know where this program is headed

Guys, we thought we were bad. Auburn just lost to one of the worst teams in the country, Boston College with their 327 RPI lol. At least we don't have a bad loss, that loss pretty much damages their tourney hopes since the SEC is weak and they don't have any quality wins

Alright, so how do we change this around so I can go full gump? This team is shooting 42.6% from the field, but 33% from beyond the arc. We average only 11.9 assist per game, which is tied for 209th in the nation. Maybe as the season goes along, the chemistry with the team will make it better.

I would really like if this team committed to driving the lanes and really attacking the basket. Nothing wrong with taking the occasional 3 when teams go to zone, but trying to be a 3-point team when A) The shot isn't there and B) You can't shoot well is just wasting scoring opportunities. Keep feeding Hall inside.

Against Texas, the team went 6-16 beyond the arc in the first half, then 4-10 in the second half. Against Oregon, they went 2-19 the whole fricking game. This team needs to realize who they are.

I think we're slightly getting better. Good thing is, as bad as we've been, we've survived bad losses so far.

This is still very spotty since it's early, but teams have played enough non-conference games that it is at least semi-relevant

RPI Wizard

- We win out in the Non Conference (USCU, Clemson, Ark St, Stetson).

- SEC Wins : @ MSU, vs Vandy, vs Miz, vs MSU, vs AU, @ MIZ, vs LSU, vs UGA, vs OM, @ TN

That would make us 10-8 in the SEC and 18-12 overall. RPIWizard says that is good enough for a #69 RPI.

Let's say we win a few we might think we shouldn't (in addition to ones I already listed that I don't think we will, this is fantasy so bear with me). Add wins : vs UF, @ LSU.

That makes us 20-10 (12-6) and #45 in the RPI.

Basically - we are going to have to win out in the OOC and then go AT LEAST 11-7 to have any chance of going to the SEC Tournament with a shot at the NCAAs.

The good news so far is our losses should all be semi-decent.

Predicted season ending RPI as of today
Dayton - #38
Valpo - #68
Texas - #115
Oregon - #28

Our best "expected RPI" win so far is.........well it isn't good. Coastal Carolina - #203.

Texas could a pretty big dagger, but hopefully they mesh and can play better in conference play.

It really sucks we didn't beat Texas and Valpo. Losing to Dayton and Oregon hurt, but having those two wins plus Clemson on Sunday, and I'd say we'd be sitting pretty comfortably.

Honestly - just winning one of those 4 along with beating Clemson and Arkansas St at home would be a decent OOC stretch. No terrible losses, a few decent wins. Sigh.

Good news we will have shots in SEC play. It isn't like in 2012 when we had to play 10 conference games against sub-150 teams and had no shot to raise our profile. Bad news is I'm not entirely convinced we are very good.
