it's not just the Avery era, it's every single year. This is Alabama Basketball!

I've really gotta stop getting my hopes up every year when I know I'm gonna be let down with 2 weeks to go until the tourney

Everyone of out there except JJ Frazier sucked last night. I couldn't believe how no one wanted to shoot the ball at the end of the game. Forget their talent, we just need some guys with a winning mentality out there. Sexton seems to have that.

Just saw where if we win Saturday, that would be 6 SEC road wins, the most since 1995. We are improving with Avery, but he's having to raise this program from the dead. Instead of 6 feet under we were 16 feet under. I think we're gonna be fine.

Alabama among teams that will improve next year with 2017 class

Alabama could be the next to jump in line as a threat to Kentucky and Florida for SEC supremacy.

Yeah, nobody should be melting. We let games get away early on then played ourselves back onto the bubble and improved last year's conference record (with 3 games left to play) all the while without any go-to scorers. All things considered, it hasn't been a bad season and the future looks even brighter.

Also I think we're 5-6 against ranked teams under Avery which isn't bad. We were 0-16 in the last 4 years under Grant. Imagine how much that record will improve when we actually get some talent next year and in the coming years

Inconsistency has killed us this year.

Last three games at halftime:

@ Missouri - 18 points
vs LSU - 51 points
vs Georgia - 18 points

That's just a function of not having a reliable scorer. Even last year, Retin could get creative and put 20 up when the shots weren't falling. We don't have that this season.

We're still a better team that last season, but not having a guy that can just go out and find a way to score is going to occasionally bite you in the arse.

I asked Jerry Meyer what's a realistic expectation for Bama next year and he said just make the tournament. Do y'all agree? Or do you think we need to at least win a tourney game?

At this point, I'd settle for making it. I'm sure next year I'll be much more greedy and want to make the sweet 16.

During the Wimp years, I would get so mad because it felt like we lost in the sweet 16 every year. That's how spoiled I had become.

Yep just get in. That'd automatically make it at least the second best season in over a decade.

I think a successful season for next year would be us firmly getting in the tourney. I don't want to be sitting here looking at the bubble watch and barely make it in. Whatever happens once we make the tourney is extra.

To be fair, Sexton and his antics are well known in Metro Atlanta. He's Pistol Pete. He's the show. He also brings all of that on himself mostly, and it works out because he thrives on it.

That "look at me" bullshite ain't gonna play too well in CAJ's program, I don't believe.

I don't think it's really look at me. He's just an insanely focused, competitive, zoned in kid who is also a bit of a high wire act. His teammates love him, he's a great kid and he's really awesome off the floor. He reminds me a lot of Bryce Harper his first few years in professional baseball.

CAJ's challenge will be focusing that in the right ways without stifling his insane competitiveness, because that and his swag are 2 of his greatest attributes IMHO. There's just a fine line that you have to stay on your side of.

His tenacity ,confidence etc is exactly what this teams missing. He by all accounts is the hardest working kid in the class. We won't be wondering who will want the ball in their hands at the end of games either.

I don't be see anything wrong with what he's doing on the court. Yeah he trash talks but he backs it up. He's locked in in every single phase of the game and I haven't seen him be slowed down yet. His attitude on the court helps him make himself mad so he can play at a high level. That's just him. I hope CAJ let's him do that stuff at Alabama. Sick of all these players like Hale being on the court shaking their heads and not caring. Collin Sexton missed a free throw yesterday and looked at his teammates like he just saw a ghost. He's competitive in every aspect of the game and that's the kind of players we need.
