quote:There are some pretty good college coaches that still demand their guys to play good fundamental basketball, but they usually are the ones who have the depth to sit a kid's arse down if he gets lazy about them. I guess that I put more blame on the H.S. coaches who are either too lazy or are afraid to ruffle feathers for disciplining players. Also, many of the younger coaches were never made to play fundamentally sound basketball and therefore don't know how to teach it. Regardless, IMO, it is/has destroyed the REAL game of basketball. It's taken the team aspect out of the game, and made a glorified one-on-one game out of it....reminds me of the globetrotter games...or NBA all-star games.
I agree completely with your post, but if a guy's goal is solely to be a pro, should he care?
NBA players set moving screens and travel almost every play. Very rarely do bigs make post moves anymore. Most bigs that are considered good are just good in transition or are pick and pop players.
High school basketball resembles the NBA much more than college.

Would've been 1% if they weren't struggling

It's hard watching how efficient both of these offenses for Duke-UNC are.

It sucks watching good teams play basketball

BAMA still has a top 5 REC class in basketball on 247.

Call me crazy (like a fox), but I'd like to see Armond get more minutes on Sat in hopes that he gets hot. We have got to find a way to take advantage of the opposing team's defensive lapses, which UK has had a lot of as of late. Yes, Auburn shot our eyes out, but they do that a lot. They lose because the teams that they play take advantage of their piss poor defense by actually making open shots.

I agree. Armond has stepped up some lately especially the last game. If he could come in and get hot against Kentucky (along with the others like Key, Avery) we'd have a real shot at pulling off the upset. The reason I say that, is because once he hits a 3, he isn't afraid to shoot and he'll make a few of them. I hate how most of our players will have an open shot but they'll pass the ball and miss that opportunity. If Armond gets the ball, he's gonna shoot as soon as he gets a good look.

FYI, Bama made this weeks Bubble Watch page on ESPN! Of course we get removed after tomorrow, but we made it to the bubble in February!

Seems like we win a game and we're on it, then we lose and we're off, and repeat every week lol.

I really don't understand how we're on there and Auburn and UGA are not.
We probably have to get to 21 wins with 20 wins there would be a slim chance. So including the tournament we need 6 or 7 wins.
Lets assume we get 2 wins from LSU and Missouri. So we'd need 4 wins from 7 (assuming two tournament games) RPI top 100 opponents just to get to 20 wins. Right now we are 4-8 vs RPI top 100 teams.

Joe Lunardi is the only one I really trust. After we lost to Auburn he said we still had a "slim" chance at making the NCAA tourney. Then we won at #19 South Carolina who has a top 25 RPI.

I'm not saying there is no chance, but Auburn and Georgia have just as much of a slim chance I think.

Well, we have to win Saturday to start with, and I don't like that matchup at all.

If the regular season finishes how KenPom projects, we finish 18-12 (11-7) and the fourth in the SEC. If somehow in the tournament we beat Arkansas Friday and Kentucky Saturday then lose to Florida in the championship game, do you think we get in at 20-13?
Do we any chance if UT gets hot, we fall to the fifth seed (still 18-12), and then beat Miss State and UT and lose to Kentucky in Nashville? Still finish 20-13
Won't happen anyways, so I don't know why I'm even asking.

We'd finish (as of today's RPI figures) at 20-13 with an RPI of 58.
No shot.

How the hell did Vandy get in last season?

Honestly? No idea.
4-8 vs Top 50
7-11 vs Top 100
3 100+ losses
5-12 road/neutral

Alabama-Kentucky is officially SOLD OUT! Crowd needs to be loud and help this team get a win. Gonna need all the help we can get!

Interesting stat from kenpom that I think absolutely kills the league and makes it "ugly basketball" to naysayers.
The SEC averages 41.2 free throws shot per game. Only the SWAC shoots more among all 32 conferences.
The closest Power conference is 34.5 free throws per game good for 21st of 32 conferences.
ACC 33.8
BIG 10 32.8
PAC 12 31.6
BE 34.4
