I still believe in them and I know that they can beat any team and also get beat by any team.

I would show them their film from the first half of the season just to show them that they are good enough to beat anyone.

I like our seeding and it's going to be a lot of fun watching them compete.

Theyre going back to OKC.... Regional and super regional history at Rhodes has been impeccable. No way UCheat or anyone else is walking in there and beating them twice

why do you care that I care DA.The fact that you went app nutts over a ? tells me you are too invested in the coach and his program. Most coaches at some point are seen with their significant other and kids if they have them. Especially the HC. Or they give their spouse credit for things that have happened in their lives. Do you have an answer to my ?

Does anyone know what was up with the shirts the team was wearing in the announcement? Looked like some kind of random Twitter handle.

I'm not going to pretend to be a softball expert, but the expectations for this program by some here seem to be a bit unrealistic. I would challenge anyone to name a better program outside of Oklahoma than what Murphy has put together here over the past 20 years. And to be the #6 national seed and have a great shot to get back to OKC this year? And people think this is a terrible coaching job?

Here you go. Still not certain what it means. I might argue that it’s more like ‘us against ourselves’, but happy for the opportunity to have a shot at post season glory, no matter how it got here.

'Us Against Everybody': Alabama Softball's Punkman96 Mentality Heading into NCAA Tournament

The slate is wiped clean as the Crimson Tide prepares to host another round of postseason games at Rhoads Stadium.

quote:

For Sunday night's selection show, Alabama softball players were wearing black shirts with @Punkman96 emblazoned across the chest.

According to senior pitcher Montana Fouts, the shirts were given to the players from head coach Patrick Murphy with a special message.

"Basically it’s just a reminder that everybody else's opinions of us doesn't matter," Fouts said. "We’re here together, and it’s us against everybody. All that matters is how we think about ourselves."

OK - I think this is it. A YouTube motivational video. (Note: NSFW)

Embrace The Hate

Found the transcribed version:

Hundreds of years ago when we were on the savanna fighting the saber-toothed tiger and the cheetah, if we left the herd, we would be killed and eaten. And now here it is, in whatever year this is, and we're still too frightened to think differently, we're still too frightened to speak with our own voice. We're still too frightened to chase our dream, we're still too frightened to live by our values, not by our mother's values or our neighbor's values, or society's values. I am tired of people not starting and living their life on one very simple thing, which is there worried about what other people think. whether that's their mom, their friends, and worst of all, f*cking comments in social media. I mean this is some 6th grade lunchroom sh*t. Are you really really really not gonna live your life based on somebody's anonymous f*cking icon feedback that you suck? It's enough. It doesn't matter what they think. When you're f*cking 92 and you're sitting there, you're not gonna give a sh*t about what punkman96 had to say, or even what your aunt had to say, who's miserable cause she never got hers, so she's trying to keep you down. So very simply, please take the passion that is pouring out of my f*cking face right now and run with it, and go do something. Because the only thing that's holding you back is you're worried about what other people have to say. Leave that sh*t in highschool, it's time to go. Life tests the big dreamers, the passionate revolutionaries, it's almost like a weeding out process, only the strong and the best get to live their heart song. You know what? If it was easy to get to world class and extraordinary, everyone would be doing it. Every dream starts off small, but you wanna start, and move it forward each and every day, and while everyone else laughs at you, and criticizes you, pay no heed to them, keep on moving your dream forward. Because there is something magical about sticking to your dream longer than anyone around you thinks you have a right to stick to that dream. Do the interior work required to get to a level where the negative opinions and the chattering voices of the cynics, do not knock you off your ambition. They do not knock you off your game. You have to be so strong in your own skin that when people dismiss your ideas or they don't understand it, or they laugh at you, you simply keep on going. So you gotta consider before you start anything, what is the commitment level? If you commit to something, you don't stop until you win. Wake up in the morning, you rise and you grind. You joined that health club? Don't quit. You started that business? Don't quit. Your mind has got to be steadfast, your minds gotta be locked in, no matter what. Because we are champions, and we never quit.

Because Murphy is the equivalent of Les Miles or Dabo Swinney: at one point in time, he was an elite coach, but instead of evolving with the game, changing your approach, and staying at the top, he is the definition of complacent, the top teams aka Oklahoma, UCLA have changed their approach and adopted to the evolution of the way the sport is played to remain ultra competitive i.e. they not only make it to OKC, they are usually playing in the last series. Murphy still wants to find one elite pitcher and ride her till her arm falls off or the other team starts figuring her out. To hell with slugging, impeccable defense, and more than one hoss on the mound who can beat you. He's followed the same gameplan since Team 1 and it has worked well enough to keep us around the top 10, but hardly ever a threat to win it all. The girls aren't COACHED when teams adapt to what's working and stop them, just like our hitting from early in the season. Montana has been throwing 1 pitch for 3 years and now it's not unhittable anymore. Why hasn't she been taught a changeup before this year?

Look, Murphy has done a great job building Alabama softball from nothing to a national power but he's gotten complacent and has lost his edge. He is a great recruiter, but his coaching leaves something to be desired. He just hangs out in the dugout like one of the gals and lets the girls play. Unless you're not one of his favorites like the girl that is now the SS for Florida or the girl playing at Arkansas. Those girls were more or less run off. It's time Byrne had a talk with Murphy and tell him it's time for some changes to his approach or we can change coaches. That's what some of us want. We've got the Bobby Cox of softball coaching our girls and as good as it's been, at times, it can be considered nothing less than underachieving.

They can't. Patrick Murphy is a legend there's no if ands or buts about it.

I'm fully invested in this coach, staff, and our girls until there's a reason not to be now we have to make adjustments at the plate/batting for sure... whatever that might be!

Some of the girls have hit a mental block when it comes to hitting for some reason kind a like our Men's Basketball team missing WIDE OPEN THREE'S all season that's a mental thing. (Literally couldn't hit WATER even if we fell out of a BOAT)!

There's still an opportunity to get the proper adjustments made to make a run.

I can't believe so called FANS are literally praying for our GIRLS to fail and I don't want to hear nothing bout Murphy...our GIRLS still need our support because they still can win it all.

I appreciate the fans on here who don't give up easily just because things aren't falling like we want them.

Until we are put out of the tournament...I will always believe in this team. ROLL TIDE ROLL!
