Heavy sigh….

Alabama Softball Lands Four on SEC All-Conference Teams

Montana Fouts, Ashley Prange, Bailey Dowling and Ally Shipman took home All-SEC honors for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama softball was well-represented in the SEC all-conference teams announced Friday. Pitcher Montana Fouts and third baseman Ashley Prange earned first-team All-SEC honors while shortstop Bailey Dowling and catcher Ally Shipman were named to the second team.

Arkansas outfielder KB Sides was named SEC Player of the Year while her teammate Chenise Delse earned Pitcher of the Year. Auburn first baseman Bri Ellis was chosen as the Freshman of the Year. After leading Arkansas to a SEC regular-season title, Courtney Deifel was selected the Coach of the Year.

Arkansas led the way with nine combined selections on the first, second and all-defensive teams.

While having her most productive year ever. It's almost like our coaching staff's lack of development of hitters was holding her back.

Does anyone know why she left Alabama?

I'm proud of the girls who made it on the list but we still have work too do.

The season isn't over just yet so we got a go back too the drawing board.

I need somebody to step up right now shoot I don't care who it is.

I don't think they packed it in but mentally they are midgets right now.

They still have an opportunity to get it together though.

I don’t know this for a fact, but what I heard was she told the coaches she was not coming back and later on changed her mind and wanted to play another year. She was told to move on. Again, no idea if it’s what actually transpired - it’s what I heard in the ballpark.

At the time, I didn’t think it was that big a loss - other than experience, she hit 0 home runs last year and scored 33 runs and had 20 RBIs. (Savannah had 1 home run, scored 26 runs and had 26 RBIs last year as a point of comparison). KB last year had a better batting average than Savannah, but not significantly better offensive production.
(edit: Savannah’s numbers were from last year as well; I originally indicated they were this year’s numbers)

How KB morphed at Arkansas in one year and vs how Tow (and the team) regressed should be a wake up call for Murphy.

I’m not sure how anyone can have confidence that the Alabama softball of the last month can even manage to get out of a regional.

Anyone else feel like the longer Murph stays in Tuscaloosa, the more lackadaisical and nonchalant he gets? He just wants to hang around with his gals and have some fun, being the crazy uncle. He's the women's softball equivalent to Bobby Cox and Morris Buttermaker (Walter Mathau in Bad News Bears) if they had a love child. He thinks that in a week or two he can just flip a switch and have this team WCWS ready. I'm not convinced we make it out of the regionals or supers this year. This team is so up and down and scrapping for every W, I can see another bad series at the wrong time ending their season. I hope I'm wrong about the outcome, but Murphy's schtick and his strategy (is there one?) are really getting old.

I posted this on April 30th. I wish I had been wrong. It’s time for Byrne to have a “Come to Jesus” meeting with Murphy and remind him this is Alabama’s softball team, not his church league softball team.

You think he's wrong? If the team that shows up in the regional is the same one that has played the last month then we'll absolutely get bounced before the super regional.
