Does this team even have a batting coach? These girls sure take a lot of swings at bad pitches!

Y'all had enough yet? He can't coach for shite. Him and the barking seal first base coach are the hitting coaches. Her claim to fame is she played on a boy's baseball team. Not sure what his is. Need to clean house. He is not one of the girls....

Oh yea………… say it to his face.

Never liked him, supported him because of the alumni and the fact that I was hoping, that I was an idiot. Apparently, I’m not that big of an idiot, because nothing changes. He uses the same shite that he used 15 years ago, while the rest of the SEC has adjusted, and caught us

Not sure what to make of this. What started out so promising has devolved into the Spring of Hell. It’s not that the players haven’t improved. Across the board, everyone has gotten worse. If the opponent gets more than a couple of runs, we likely lose. The basketball analogy rings so true. Held out hope we’d see a rejuvenated team after the week off. Softball and baseball are supposed to be sparking joy. It ain’t happening. Serenity now!

Alabama Softball Drops Extra-Inning Opener to Missouri

The Crimson Tide lost for the fourth time in its last five games.

quote:

"We just didn’t continue innings," said Alabama coach Patrick Murphy. "The most we had up to bat in one inning was five. We just have to have another person get on base. That’s been the story all year long too, it’s very frustrating.”

Not trying to rip on you but this is the same language Murphy uses at times that makes me think he has never played ball before. Anyone that has played the game does not say "batting coach" - it is a "hitting coach". I equate it with people who use the term "hindcatcher" for the catcher. But then again, maybe Softball uses a lot of different terms that we didn't use in baseball.

I’ve met Murphy a handful of times through a friend that knows him well. He’s a good guy, and there’s no denying what he’s built at Bama and the impact it has had on SEC softball. But the past few seasons just pint to something being fundamentally flawed with his teams. I don’t know enough about softball to know what that is beyond lack of runs which ends up putting a ton of pressure in the pitchers. Montana had what, 14 strikeouts last night? And we lost?

I guess there’s still a lot to play for, and the bats can certainly wake up, but prior season results just don’t give me much hope.

Pat Murphy has won a ton of games throughout his time coaching so when people say he can't coach I'm like they tripping then you might hear well Murphy needs to adjust and I'm like we were just the SEC Champs in 2021 so he has to be doing something right somewhere.

I think the hitting could be better & adjustments should be made but it still boils down to one thing...see the ball/hit the ball.

We have runners in scoring position but we've choked under pressure a lot all season.

Dallis has to get out of her head and play back up to her potential. We miss her a lot (Good Dallis)
Montana Fouts has to take it to another level.
Kaylee Tow has to take it to another level
Lexi has to take it to another level.
Shipman & Dowling has to do the same.

What I loved about Jackie Traina is that she hated losing and she was a phenomenal leader. Lauren Chamberlain crushed a home run off of her in the title game but Traina didn't back down...she came right back versus Ricketts and thru even harder.

Montana has to play better and LEAD now or the season will be a wash. She's the ultimate leader so she has to takeover the team.

You know what helps players take it to the next level? Good coaching. And that's something they aren't getting.

The ultimate leader is the head coach but when a player leads they listen more. That alpha momma needs to step up.

This is how it's been for the entirety of Murphy's tenure. He is entirely reliant on having a complete ACE on the pitching mound, because he can't coach hitting.

The guy is clearly a great recruiter, but he's the Bobby Cox or Mark Richt of college softball. We'll power through on just talent alone in most seasons, but we'll hardly ever win the title.

At some point the University has to decide what they want the ceiling to be, because we've hit Murphy's.

They have 40 wins bro...if he wasn't a good coach they wouldn't have that many.

Our best player has to step up and be the best player in the country not just on the team.

IT'S ALL MENTAL WITH OUR GIRLS...

Bad comparison...neither of them did anything!

Pat Murphy has done a lot here so let's not try too downplay the guy. Give the man some respect if your going to speak on him like that.

Bobby Cox won 11 division titles in a row and played in 5 World Series while winning just 1. He did that while having 3 hall of fame pitchers on staff at the same time and a hall of fame 3rd baseman. He's an excellent comparison.

This entire statement is proving Murph's deficiencies not defending him like you intended.

The most common criticisms of him are he wins plenty but can't win the championship, he relies on one stud pitcher and rides her til she drops, and he's not a good in-game coach.

Everything you said reinforces that. And maybe you've never played or coached but helping players who are struggling mentally is what coaching is all about.

No coach is perfect but my question is what coach could this program get to come here that would do better than Murph? Dont give me Gasso because she dominates in a weak league. Only coaches that are worth a shite outside of her are in the SEC and none of them have had murph's success
