SEC Notebook: ‘All for Alex’ Weekend Arrives
All for Alex weekend.
The 13 SEC softball programs will join together to honor the legacy of Mississippi State’s Alex Wilcox in the second annual “All for Alex” weekend. Wilcox was a member of the 2018 Mississippi State softball team who inspired the nation with her courageous fight against ovarian cancer before she passed away in the summer of 2018. The SEC programs will wear teal or teal accents on Saturday to recognize Wilcox’s impact on the softball community and the fight against ovarian cancer. The campaign is a joint effort between LSU head coach Beth Torina and MSU head coach Samantha Ricketts. Wilcox’s No. 8 jersey was retired by MSU in 2018, making her the first female athlete in MSU history to receive the honor.

There's a few batters in this line up offensively that offer very little game in and game out.

Fouts had one bad inning and our batters are struggling right now

5-1 as fouts just gave up a 2 run shot.
she has not been sharp since the end of 3

She has not been sharp all season.

not overly sharp during SEC play for sure
5-3 them and Fouts has been benched for Lexi. Now 2 outs but the play is under review. Which I think will be over turned.
Our SS didnt toss the throw to third quick and soon enough to get the sliding runner

called her out which shocked me as I did not think the tag got down
Huge out and Lexi has a mean change up which is something Fouts needs to go along with her fast ball

quote:I've been asking that question all season! The opposition is starting to be able to time up her pitches because of the lack of variation in the speed of all her pitches. It doesn't have to be an elite one, but just something to show hitters to make them have to guess a little.

Tough day at Rhoads. Murph got tossed after home plate went to the 3rd base umpire for a check swing call on a right handed batter. Ladies missed a scoring opportunity in the first inning and didn’t threaten until several innings later. He juggled the batting order and it definitely did not work. Great atmosphere today - just needed the W to cap it off.
