So so happy to see the ladies bounce back and gut this one out! It was nerve racking to follow the stats during the baseball game. They needed this one for the team psyche as much as the record heading into another grueling week. The schedule calls for Southern Miss (who beat Florida at Florida) on Tuesday and FSU on Wednesday before opening SEC at home against Kentucky this upcoming weekend.
No. 2 Alabama Softball, Fouts Bounce Back to Win Series Finale at LSU (SI)
The Crimson Tide used a strong start in the circle from Montana Fouts and game-saving play from Jenna Johnson to salvage a win from the Tigers

Alabama Softball Closes Weekend with 2-1 Win over LSU
Montana Fouts strikes out 10, Bailey Dowling hits her third home run of the season
Alabama salvaged its opening weekend series of Southeastern Conference play with a 2-1 win over LSU Sunday afternoon.
For the third time this weekend, Alabama (21-2, 1-2 SEC) took the first lead of the game over LSU (19-7, 2-1 SEC) in the top of the second inning, with Bailey Dowling smashing a solo home run to left field. Megan Bloodworth made it a two-run game with an RBI double in the third before the Tigers broke into the run column in the bottom half of the inning with a sac fly RBI. LSU looked to tie it up in the bottom of the fifth with a two-out single but a great throw from Jenna Johnson in left to Ally Shipman at the plate cut down the runner to end the inning and preserve the one-run lead. The putout made the difference as Alabama retired the next six straight to close out the 2-1 win to salvage the series.
Johnson was 2-for-3 from the leadoff position, ending the weekend at 5-for-8 (.625) with four RBIs, two home runs and two runs scored. Shipman went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored while the double from Bloodworth and home run from Dowling drove in the runs. Montana Fouts (11-0) went the distance for her seventh complete game of the year and her fifth with double-digit strikeouts.

Definitely! It's one in a long long list of such costly decisions.

Fouts needs some help. Crazy we have to keep bringing her in for relief.

Why did Murphy start Torrence instead of Killfoil? And why, when Torrence predictably got in trouble and lost the lead, did Murphy put in Fouts instead of Killfoil? We need a well rested Fouts for the FSU game tomorrow so it would have made more sense to use Killfoil today. Is something wrong with Killfoil? If not, I just don't understand Murphy's thinking.
Well, Fouts got the 5-2 win but at what cost?

The radio crew doing the game think Lexi gets the start tomorrow vs FSU. (With Montana available if needed).
