8-3 and our number 4 pitcher strugged with Fouts coming in to play 3 plus

still left a lot on bases as we scored 8 in the first two inning and known after that.

One more game and I assume Torrence starts.

Did we trade hitting coaches with Murphy and the girls? This is how they have looked against top teams before this season.

Above is a comment from the baseball thread. The ineptness of Murphy as a hitting coach, much less a game manager is common knowledge.

Alabama Softball Earns Two More Wins Saturday in Youngsville

The Crimson Tide defeat Northwestern State, 8-3, and Louisiana Tech, 2-0

Second-ranked Alabama softball posted another pair of wins on day two at the Mardi Gras Mambo, beating Northwestern State, 8-5, before shutting out Louisiana Tech, 2-0.

Alabama (14-0) scored eight runs in the first two innings against Northwestern State (8-5) and the Lady Demons were able to scratch across three runs in the third and fourth but the Crimson Tide pitchers and defense held them for the remainder of the game. In the nightcap, Alabama took a 1-0 lead in the second inning off a Louisiana Tech (8-6) error and got some insurance from a sixth-inning Ally Shipman home run, holding on for the two-run shutout.

Shipman's home run was part of a 3-for-5 day at the plate, scoring three runs and driving in three RBIs. Dallis Goodnight, Abby Doerr and Ashley Prange each earned a pair of hits between Saturday's two games, while Bailey Dowling drove in a pair of runs on a single up the middle in game one against Northwestern State. Montana Fouts (5-0) earned the win in relief in game one before earning a save in game two, following behind 5.1 shutout innings from Jaala Torrence (3-0).

Pregame show:

Lexi has ‘something with her foot’ which is why she came out so early in yesterday’s game (when Alex came in to pitch).

Killer defense bails Bama out in the 3rd inning. Lead off runner steals 2nd and 3rd. Gets thrown out at home on a hit to 2nd base. Next batter strikes out and the runner on first base gets thrown out trying to steal 2nd.

Bama robbed of two home runs so far in this game by the distance of the temporary fences on this converted baseball field hosting today’s game. Bama at bat in the 4th.

SI doing play by play here but it’s WAY behind the game: LINK

Three runs for Bama in the 4th. Louisiana at bat.

(detail of the scoring action)
Abby Doerr draws the RBI-walk with the bases loaded. Alabama leads 1-0 without earning a hit.

Bailey Dowling comes through with the clutch hit. A two-out single from Dowling brings in two runs, and Alabama extends the lead to 3-0.
