Right, there aren't many 7 footers who can guard guys on the perimeter, a 6’10 guy is a lot quicker and more agile. Most 7 footers cant dribble drive either. Ware can shoot? Ok. Can he guard a 6’7 guy off the dribble? Can he beat a 6’7 guy off the dribble? Probably not. Theres more to it than “he can hit a three like clowney so he can play on the perimeter.”

Where the advantage with Ware would be is you play him at the 5 and he is gonna be quicker and more athletic than the other teams 5 and can shoot, so the other teams 5 has to come out to the three point line sometimes to guard him which opens up the lane.
You play him at the 4 where he has to play defense out of position on the perimeter and try to guard a quicker guy then the other team has the advantage over you.

Heres a Bruce Pearl interview from yesterday where he references Traore transferring pretty early in it. Then right after that he doesn't mention traore by name but he says “you have these parents who think their kid should be batting 4th, well your kids not good enough to bat 4th yet” I assume he is talking about Traore. Then he talks about not recruiting parents anymore but recruiting players.
Anyway found it a little bit relevant since we have reached out to Traore. Bruce does say he thinks Traore is gonna be very good in a year or two and wishes he wasn’t transferring.
Bruce Pearl - field of 68

Here’s close to Pearls exact quote about kids transferring these days which I thought was really good.
“Parents think their kid should be batting 4th, well you know why your kid’s not batting 4th? Because he can’t hit. He cant hit a curveball and he cant lay off the high ones. So what do they do? They go to a different all star team and find a coach that will let their kid bat 4th. You know what we used to do? You know what my fathers generation did?
We would get our arse in the batting cages and we would start hitting until we deserved to be batting 4th.”

I haven’t seen any mention of us contacting him anywhere. I’m not on the pay sites though.

Nothing publicly. I’m just saying sometimes that stuff isn’t always out there.

Have you seen Ware defend quicker guards on the perimeter?

Unless I missed someone mentioning it earlier, Friday night on one of the news stations in Huntsville, it was reported that Bediako was the declaring for the NBA draft with option to return.

If some of you want to delude yourself into thinking a 7 foot center that theres no proof we have even contacted is gonna come here and be Clowneys replacement at PF have at it. I am done wasting time on it.

He is testing the waters but should be back.

What if he was 6’11? Is 6’10 the cut off?
Posted on 4/1/23 at 4:26 pm to Yaz 8
I mean he can shoot a three why not start him at shooting guard. How awesome would it be to have a 7 foot shooting guard. Brandon Miller was 6’8 and played shooting guard for us. Not much difference in 6’8 and 7 feet, its just 4 inches.

Here's Ware's highlights. He is a rim-protecting center, that can hit threes, he is a very skilled center with good athletisism. He would be a perfect center for us since he can stretch the floor but we already have two really good centers.
If he had the skill set to play other positions aside from center at 7 feet tall then he would be in the draft about to get drafted in the top 5 picks and not in the transfer portal.

Tough watching this game. Should be us vs FAU with a chance to go to a Natty.
I visualized this moment all season with Alabama playing in its first Final Four and eventually playing in the title game. Up by 9 with about 10 min to go...god I still can’t believe we never called a freaking timeout.
Oh well.
