quote:Were we supposed to just not sign anybody? Or should we use our magic button to age them a couple years? Also the Alex T to Brandon is very lazy, Alex was like 40th in his class after reclassifying, Brandon is 11. Also how about Primo? Does he not exist or do we just choose the bad examples?
Sure putting a lot of expectations on FR. Thought we might have learned from the past.

We are supposed to sign the best players we think we can. I believe we did that.
We can hope they are All-Americans as Fr but that seems very unrelistic.
JD was ranked in the top ten. Case is made. I do remember the gushing over Alex T before he got here. Me included.
Hope the class turns into the FAb Five but I will wait until I actually see them play before Honoring them with that distinction.
Ya'll are welcome to look at them any way you care to.

Primo only averaged 8 points a game and could be very inconsistent. No one thought he was going to be that high of a draft pick. If Miller has the exact same freshman season Primo had, some on here will call that a disappointment

quote:The Primo point wasn’t that he was an all time star, but he was serviceable as a freshman and gave us starting minutes on one of our best teams of all time, and ended up being a lottery pick lol. Just because we mock drafts and the board collective didn’t think so doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a silky smooth jumper with NBA measurable and a nice handle. JD was a disappointment overall because of super high expectations, but he played 2a in the poorest county in the United States. He had his moments though and made the two back to back game winning/saving plays in arguably our biggest win and also played tremendous against Baylor.

I’m not saying this is the fab five or hyping them up to be the greatest class ever don’t know where that came from or who said that. It’s silly though for you to say “when will we learn” like we made some mistake in the players we signed, or that we should’ve done something else. If that’s not what you meant please explain I don’t want to make assumptions and someone get all upset.

I don't think I said as soon as he steps foot on campus that he will be the best player in the SEC & he will carry this team did I?
That's putting expectations on a kid.
Now on the post they had Brandon Miller -Most Tools
I'm simply responding to how I think those evaluators are thinking that's it.

I took it as "when will we learn to control expectations for freshmen" rather than "when will we learn that 5* players suck and we shouldn't sign them." I don't think he's that one guy who wants us to sign a bunch of 3* white kids from Wisconsin and Kansas because [insert all the white athlete cliches].

You also must’ve missed where I asked for a clarification on what he meant so there’s no misunderstanding. Would hate to be an argumentative moron again.

In a crowded field of shooting guards, Keon Ellis (Alabama) struggled to distinguish himself in the two games. He wasn’t bad so much as invisible, scoring just nine points in the two games with few other additions to the box score.
From The Athletic about the draft combine. Unfortunately not out of character.

Whoever gets Keon Ellis will get a steal no doubt about it.
I hope my Celtics draft him.

Maybe, but he has to find another gear. He's done it in rare spurts before, so it's there.

Reading the tea leaves we seem to be in the lead for Miller and Bradley (I think we get both) and about 50/50 on if we get Walker or not. Arkansas leads for Nick Smith Jr currently it looks like....
Made these predictions on 9/14 and never got to brag about being right because I was banned, that was the hardest part really.

There is literally some dude who posts in here occasionally, complaining that we focus too much on 5*s and there aren't enough tough, gritty, coach on the field, lunch pail toting Midwesterners on our roster. I was expressing doubt that he and rcbama are one and the same.

If I could combine any two players from last year's roster I'd probably give Ellis's talent to Rojas or Rojas's attitude to Ellis. It's painful to watch guys who can but won't and guys who want to but can't.

Ellis is a very good role player, not sure he has the aggressiveness to ever be the lead dog on a team, we really needed him to be last year and he just didn't seem to be willing and/or able to step into that role.
I think he will have a long NBA career, he has a solid all-around game and not many weaknesses.
