100% guarantee you right now Tchikou and Wilson play more than Bediako next season.

Year 2 Bediako may be a stud but year 1 he ain’t.

And Bro, Donta was arguably the best player on the team his last 2 years(2nd to Colin in 2018). He shot over 70% from the field

Not at the 5 he wont, unless one of them gets injured.

If you think Bediako is gonna be a Game Changer year 1 you are wrong. Year 2-4 possibly but year 1 he is gonna play maybe 10 minutes a game

We didn't bring in a borderline 5 star center to redshirt him or not play him next year. We all think Bediako will be better in year 2 than year one but he is gonna play way more than 10 minutes a game on average.

Bediako is one spot away from being a 5 star for a reason, I get that you dont think he is good but youre in the minority there.

If I’m wrong I’m wrong and I will GLADLY eat crow if he is a Stud from Day 1.

But he needs some offensive development IMO. He will help defensively but There is a reason he dropped from top 10 consensus 5* to a 4*

I think he will be very good year 2.

According to ESPN we're #8 in their preseason poll and basically everyone in here is wrong - we're rolling out Rojas at the 5:

quote:

Projected starting lineup:
Jahvon Quinerly (12.9 PPG, 3.2 APG)
J.D. Davison (No. 11 in ESPN 100)
Jaden Shackelford (14.0 PPG)
Joshua Primo (8.1 PPG)
James Rojas (2.9 PPG, 2.6 RPG)

I don't claim to know what's going to happen, but I'm pretty sure that's not going to be our starting lineup.

He probably doesn't have that kind of wingspan, but he still appears to be pretty long. I'd bet his wingspan is 7'+. Their body types/athletic profiles are pretty similar. Nothing I have seen of Wilson suggests he will have any issues receiving passes or securing rebounds. He definitely isn't Giddens or anything in that regard. I think upperclassman Donta is his floor as a player mostly because I think worst case scenario for him is that he's a bouncy rim runner who is active on defense and the glass. I said multiple times in the predecessor to this thread that I thought if he had actually been able to play in high school Wilson would have been an elite recruit. I don't think he's there yet but he's got a ton of potential on offense. Donta was always pretty much limited to being a rim runner who did all of his damage from point blank range. So I guess I'd say I'm mostly pretty high on Wilson's potential.

Wilson is averaging 9 points a game in about 20 minutes a game in JUCO. We definitely recruited him for his elite defense and athleticism way moreso than his scoring ability.

He does have potential to develop into being good on offense but the SEC is a lot tougher then JUCO, I dont see him being the offensive threat next year that you think he will be.

I hope I am wrong and he averages 15 points a game next year.

One potential weakness comes on the inside, where James Rojas and Juwan Gary will have to step forward, along with junior college transfer Langton Wilson.

Borzello doesn't even mention Tchikou or the widely-known assumption that Bediako was coming to Alabama. Or the fact that Gary was pretty easily our best 5 down the stretch of this season. Considering we were the 5th overall seed this season, he should know a lot more about the sport he covers.

If Rojas was his projection of our starting 5, we belong nowhere near the top 10...

That's sort of an extreme number

Chances are really good that Bediako and Wilson don't combine to score 15 points a game next year.

Correct. But Wilson is a respectable enough shooter to pull people away from the basket making it easier for JQ and JD to get layups.

If Bediako doesn’t improve his shot to at least respectability then teams are gonna do what Arkansas did to us in Fayetteville and just leave him open and keep their Big near the basket making it hard for us to finish layups

There's a ton of room between offensive liability and 15ppg. If he averages 15ppg he's squarely in the running for SEC POTY.

Bediako shot 40% from three last year, Wilson is at 30% this year. Not sure why you have the perception that Bediako cant shoot at all. He hits plenty of threes in his highlight videos.

Ill be surprised if he averages 5 points a game next year, and we really dont need him to, we recruited him for being able to defend guards while being 6’9.

We didnt recruit him to play the 5 or score a ton of points.

Yeah, I'm high on his potential as well. I definitely expect more from him than Bediako next year, but I'm not super high on Bediako to be honest. I'm more trusting the staff with their evaluation of him. It's hard for people like us to evaluate him with his limited footage and highlight videos don't always show the rebounding and defensive impact a player makes.

Wilson on the other hand looks like a total athletic freak with more smoothness to his game. He definitely has more potential than Hall, but I'm not expecting him to be a better Hall just yet. I have always had an extremely high opinion of Hall though.
