Our coaches are just trying to help the less fortunate find a better home. Honestly it’s admirable and I couldn’t be prouder.

I would imagine our coaches and most other programs are recruiting kids not currently in the portal to get them in the portal.
Not to say Gurley, was a bad take at the time, but I hope we don't just pickup a kid because he played well against us again. I didn't really care for the signing because what made him effective (post ups and face up midrange) at Furman wasn't something that really fit with what we do.
I mean for a stats driven staff, I'd hope we're doing a deep dive into the advanced stats to find someone in the portal that fits what we do and what we need this time.

Also just watching that Buffalo team is a reminder of what Oats wants his roster to look like (which is reinforeced by our signing class and I think what our roster will look like next year)
Starters
PG - Wes Clark (6'0, 177 lbs) (55% mins)
SG - Davonta Jordan (6'2, 187 lbs) (63% mins)
G/F - CJ Massinburg (6'3, 194 lbs) (85% mins)
F - Jeremy Harris (6'7, 176 lbs) (83% mins)
C - Nick Perkins (6'8, 250 lbs) (69% mins)
Top Subs
G - Jayvon Graves (6'3, 193 lbs) (40% mins)
G - Dontay Caruthers (6'1, 191 lbs) (32% mins)
C - Montell McRae (6'10, 198 lbs) (32% mins)
C - Ikenna Smart (6'10, 241 lbs) (23% mins)
F - James Reese (6'4, 167 lbs) (12% mins)
Long, athletic and interchangable dues at the #2-#4. Also, he's always had a long athletic center in the same mold as Bediako. McRae and Smart - the two guys that were both 6'10 - went 57/83 from close 2 in 2018 (69%).
Also - Clark's numbers that year were 31.5% assist rate to 16.7% turnover rate. That's the good stuff.

What about the shooting guard from South Dakota State...I think his name is Noah Friedel or something.

His offensive numbers were really good but he ended up leaving the team because of depression and kind of had a weird back and forth with their program about how they handled him. In his "I'm leaving" post he said something like "I hope to go somewhere where they are better at understanding mental health".

Also.........he shoots 2 mid range jumpers in the Arizona game. Kind of interesting.
If I could tweak one thing about Oats philosophy is I would allowed my PG to shoot pull up Mid range shots. I think that is still a good shot by the PG

“I’ve watched a lot of games, and I’ve seen a lot of things I can help with,” Pringle told BamaCentral. “I know I’d help with the rebounding, and some of the defensive principles could even change with me on the court. Instead of hedging, maybe we could switch because I’m able to hold those guys. It’s a lot of things that I think about.”
quote:
“I’m just chipping away day by day,” Pringle said. “I’m just staying in the gym and working on things that I need to strengthen. I know I have a lot of strengths like my athleticism, rebounding, defensive ability, but I’m trying to work on things like my 3-point shot and just getting my field-goal percentage and free-throw percentages up. Just anything I can to help me fill out my game.”
quote:
“What really stood out to me was their playing style and the coaching from Coach Oats,” Pringle said. "That’s just something I really wanted to be a part of, especially seeing the role that Herb Jones played. I’m not saying I’m the same player as him. I probably have him by two inches, but I can still move like him. I’m probably not as skilled as him, but I can definitely see Alabama getting me there. I really trust their skill development and what they can do with me.”
quote:
“I definitely expect to surprise people,” Pringle said. “I know I don’t get talked about as much as the other players in our class, but that doesn’t really bother me. I’m just a guy who’s truly a team guy. I’m just here to be the energy person. I like to do the things that don’t show up on the stat sheet. I don’t care if I’m in the spotlight because I know my time will come, and I’m going to work for it.”
quote:
“I’m going to come away with a lot of helmets, I already know,” Pringle said, referring to the team’s Hard Hat Award, given each game to the player with the most blue-collar points. “I’m most definitely going to get my hands on a few of those. I’ve got to.”
quote:
“I definitely try to be that anchor for the team, just someone that everyone can lean on,” Pringle said. “I want everyone to feel like they can trust me to do my job at the fullest at all times. No one is ever going to have to doubt that about me.”

A lot to like with Curtis Williams Jr's approach and nuanced scoring skillset. A well-built 6-6 with rugged physicality and a quick leaper into his elevated release.
Knocked down 4.4 3PT (37%) per 40 minutes last summer in the EYBL. Michigan, MSU & Alabama among those involved.

I love the article.
Nick Pringle is often overlooked with this recruiting class we have coming in but our fans are in for a treat and if the analysts really pay attention to his game...they would understand why he's tailor-made for this system. Nick Pringle is a straight up rim runner. He will clean up a lot of mistakes both offensively and defensively next season ohh by the way Pringle is very similar to Donta Hall. He will DUNK every time he has a chance and he will block just about everything shoot he will create his own offense with getting put backs because he plays above the rim something we didn't have this season.
Nick will be the leader on defense and I think he has the potential to start next season from day 1!
My opinion though!

So, all these schools want Alex and he can't get on the court for a team weak on the interior? Teams don't usually take a transfer unless they plan on them playing right away.
The enigma continues.

They are going off what they thought he was pre Achilles. I totally believe he would have been on the court this year if he didn’t tear his achilles
