2022 Big 12/SEC Challenge Television Schedule Set
ESPN has announced the television network designations and start times for the ninth annual Big 12/SEC Challenge on January 29, 2022.
All 10 of the Big 12's teams and 10 of the SEC's 14 member institutions will participate in this year's event.
The SEC won the 2021 SEC/Big 12 Challenge by winning five of the nine games played. The SEC holds a 25-24 advantage over the last five years of the event.
This will be the seventh year that a bye in the league schedule for participating teams was created to accommodate the single-day format. The first two years of the challenge were played over several days in November and December but the last six events have been consolidated to one single day in January. ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will combine to televise the contests.

Yeah, not surprising, but it sucks for him that it got leaked by somebody.

He’ll (hopefully) lose to bama for a year and go pro, Brandon Miller wins the game with a three over Nick Smith with 1.4 seconds to go next year.
Is it too early to start dreaming for this orrrrr??

The thing about focusing on all the top of guys is you really haven’t built a relationship or put the work in with the second tier guys. Then when you realize you are going to miss on your top targets, it’s hard to just come in at the last minute on your fallback options when other teams have been courting them the whole time.
A few years ago, I would agree with you 1000%. But with the transfer portal, the recruiting game has changed. If they're receptive, going after any high school kid has risks and uncertainty. But if you can go after elite talent, and fill in the gaps with proven, experienced talent, you're gonna win a lot. And we play a system that is going to be very appealing to top mid major talent wanting to get exposure for playing professionally.
So y'all might not like it, but this is likely how the cbb world is going to be like from now on.

I don't want us to build a roster via the portal, but as long as we sign at least 2-3 good high school prospects in every class we're going to be fine from a talent/roster construction perspective
I think Muss is a good coach. But I don't want to have a new roster every season. But it'll get to the point where it wouldn't surprise me to see half the roster being a junior or senior transfer.
Coaches leave, kids aren't happy with a system or location, or just wanting to prove themselves to pro scouts against the best cbb talent. There's going to be tons of great players in the portal every year.

As long as we win at a high level, I don’t care what the roster consists of. However, it is fun to land 5*s so I’d like for us to do that

Kind of an LSU fan thing to say.
Kid is a great player and he decided to stay home and Arkansas has Wal-Mart NIL money. Best of luck to him

My post was not that deep dude. I share the same sentiment and hope the best for him, but it was just to poke some fun at him for going to Arkansas instead of us lmaoooo

The best thing you can do, isn't be empathetic to his situation, and how he made the decision he felt was best for him. People should tweet profanity at teenager. Not only do you look cool. But it makes you feel like a big man. Just thinking about those sweet tweets, I don't even need my Viagra anymore. I highly recommend it.

One On One With Rylan Griffen
Rylan Griffen is a four-star guard prospect out of Texas who is currently down to 10 schools: Alabama, Auburn, Arizona State, California, Georgia, Kansas, Kansas State, North Carolina State, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State. Rylan tells me all 10 of these schools are the ones showing him the most love and that most have already been out to see him at his school this fall. In the summer, he officially visited Kansas State and Oklahoma State. So far this fall, he has visited Georgia and NC State. This will give him three more official visit opportunities to use before his decision, and I would be willing to bet that Alabama will get one of these visits and get the chance to host Rylan and make their pitch on why he should join their 2022 class. Rylan tells me his timeline to commit to his school of choice will probably be sometime in November.
I know most people reading this are only interested in hearing what Rylan has to say about Alabama, so I was sure to have a conversation with him on his thoughts on the staff, style of play, and what factors are going into his decision. When asked about what the intrigue is with Alabama as one of the 10 schools he is focused on, he told me:
“Bama has been recruiting me a lot longer than people think. We played an EYBL team from Alabama my freshman year and Coach Hodgson was watching, so he kept my name and then starting my junior year they really recruited me hard. Not many people know the story on how they know me, but that is how. I feel like it is pretty cool. They have been there for a while.”
Since the staff has only been able to really be in contact with him for just over a year now, I
wanted to hear more about the relationship they have formed in that time. Here is what Rylan has to say about his relationship with the staff and his view on them as a whole:
“I feel like the coaching staff relationship is great. I have known them better for about a year so it has just grown and they are good people. You know Coach Oats was a high school teacher which is so great. He understands a lot that others don’t.”
The style of play always seems to be a big intrigue when guards are being recruited to Alabama. That remains the same with this one. As expected, Rylan is a fan of the style of play that Nate Oats has implemented at Alabama:
“As for style of play, I like it. They win games so it’s working, clearly. They play fast and shoot a lot. I would say I am a scorer who just wants to win so I think I could fit in.”
With his timeline being planned to decide sometime in November as of right now, I wanted to hear about what key factors are going to be a part of him making his decision.
“The key factors will be trust, if I can play early through mistakes, and somewhere I can just be Ry.”
When talking with Rylan, you can tell he is a high character kid who would fit well at Alabama both in the culture and the play style that Nate Oats has built. Rylan is a player that I think is bound to outplay his ranking by the time his playing days are over. In the 247sports Composite Rankings, he currently sits at 63rd nationally and as the 6th ranked shooting guard. Griffen described his game as a scorer and if you watch any game film on him it is easy to see that he is exactly that. He is a three-level scorer who has potential to become a big-time tough shot maker. He has a light frame, but he is an extremely explosive player which helps him make up for that. He has great length as well which will help him impact the game at the defensive end and gives him the tools to become a high-level defender who will only improve as he continues to add strength. His shooting percentages could improve, but I do believe him being in a system that doesn’t rely on him to always be the go-to scorer will bump those percentages up a bit and help him be an efficient scorer once he gels at the college level. Where he currently will thrive and seamlessly transition to the college game is driving to the basket and playing in transition. If he is given a path to the rim, he is bound to make a highlight worthy play and finish at the rim. He is a bouncy guard who is capable of dunking on anyone in his path or pulling off a crafty layup to finish at the rim. His shot making from the outside is what will determine his true potential on offense, but he does project to be one of the better shooters to come out of the class. He mentioned how he wants to go to a school where he gets the chance to play through mistakes early on and I think this will be key for his development. He has limitless upside on the offensive end and him learning from his own mistakes and finding ways to improve through that will allow him to tap into that potential. All-in-all should Griffen choose to come to Alabama, he would be a huge get for the staff. You can never have enough high-level scorers in the style that Alabama plays, and Griffen will bring that to the table with a lot of defensive potential to impact games as well. Many see Alabama as the current leader in this recruitment and while I do not necessarily disagree with this opinion, Rylan still has a few more visits that will occur and that could quickly shift as we have already seen with other recruitments. The staff has already left a great impression on him, but now they just must finish strong here. Alabama fans should expect to see Griffen on campus for a visit sooner than later and this is a name that fans should start to get more familiar with as his recruitment begins to come closer to an end. We will be sure to update with any developments that come with this recruitment.
