If we don't pull in one or two top level points guards for next season whether through recruits or transfer portal, we absolutely will be in a mess.
Q and JD won't be back barring injury. We have no one else to play point.

Well yeah, but the odds of us not getting a single PG addition to the roster before next season starts is basically zero.

Going into a murderer's row of scheduling short handed. Everything is fine here, nothing to see. Carry on>>>

Has Tchikou had a setback or something? Will he be cleared in time to be ready for the start of the season?

I wasn't implying that you're an idiot, but I do think you're being dramatic. This system doesn't require "top level point guards" to be successful imo - it helps obviously, but I don't think we'd be "in a mess" without one.
I don't think anyone considers Herb to be a "top level point guard". But when JQ missed three consecutive games last season, the onus fell directly in Herb's lap with the only other secondary PG options really being Petty or Shack. Nobody would call them "top level point guards" either.
The team stepped up and went 3-0 with wins vs Florida, @ Auburn and @ Kentucky. Regardless of how good any of those teams ended up being last year, it's impressive that this staff and this system could place a SF/PF known as defensive specialist into the lead guard role and win all three games with two of them coming on the road in hostile environments.
There is also a decent chance that Darius Miles is the starting PG to open next season regardless of who we sign.

Not sure on either. The last update just said that he wasn't cleared yet, but didn't offer any reason why or a timetable for when he may actually get cleared.

I’m all of a sudden unsure about this season. Man, we really need Miles and Holt to produce.

One of the main reasons that I’m not overly concerned about our injuries (this year exclusively) is that basketball is becoming a guards game, and we have one of the deepest backcourts in the country. Nimari’s injury sucks but it was a spot we could technically afford it at. If we get Frentchie fully cleared then I’ll really still be above and beyond excited about this team, more than I already am.

On3 2023 Basketball Player rankings
Welcome to the On3 Top 50, our basketball player rankings for the 2023 recruiting cycle. Our goal is to assess a prospect’s long-term potential in college basketball, ultimately manifested by the NBA Draft.
Each prospect is listed with their position, On3 grade, hometown, high school and commitment status if applicable.
The basketball player rankings scale is as follows: Five-star prospects have grades 98-100, four-star recruits have grades 90-97, while 80-89 grades are for three-stars.
The first 10 prospects are five stars with a rating of 98 or higher. Each recruiting cycle could vary with the number of five stars. The rankings for current cycles will be updated on a regular schedule throughout the year.

Sensabaugh reflects on final official visit to Ohio State
Ohio State men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann and his staff welcomed in a talented group of prospects for last weekend’s home football game against Tulsa, including one player they hope will become the fifth piece of their 2022 recruiting class.
That prospect was Orlando (Fla.) Lake Highland Prep forward Brice Sensabaugh. The 6-6, 240-pound Sensabaugh has made a steady rise in the national rankings, moving from the 150 range earlier in the year to No. 75 nationally in the latest update of the 247Sports Composite. He was on campus for an official visit over the weekend.
Ohio State already has commitments from four 2022 prospects, including Georgia point guard Bruce Thornton (ranked 42nd nationally), Missouri center Felix Okpara (ranked 51st), New York shooting guard Roddy Gayle (ranked 64th) and Ohio shooting guard Bowen Hardman (ranked 275th). That class is ranked fourth nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite. Those players are expected to sign letters-of-intent
The OSU staff began scouting Sensabaugh as he played this spring and summer on the Each 1 Teach 1 travel team. He was a teammate with Thornton as well as with forward Dillon Mitchell, who at one time was considering an OSU verbal. Mitchell backed off from committing, it seems, as he was considering professional options.
Sensabaugh excelled as the summer wore on. During 12 games over two weeks at the Nike EYBL and Peach Jam events near Augusta, Ga., Sensabaugh averaged 17.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals for the E1T1 team. Playing with Thornton and Mitchell, he helped that team post a 9-3 record and reach the quarterfinals of the Peach Jam.
Over that 12 game stretch, Sensabaugh hit 50.7 percent of his shots from the floor (75 of 148), 35.9 percent of his threes (23 of 64) and 72.2 percent of his free throws (39 of 54).
Sensabaugh had over 20 offers nationally. His top four school choices are Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia Tech and Florida. He also had offers from the likes of Cincinnati, Clemson, Illinois, Indiana, Miami (Fla.), Oklahoma, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Xavier, Stanford and Vanderbilt.
He also has family ties to Ohio, having been born in Cincinnati and spending some of his childhood in the state.
We caught up with Sensabaugh following his Ohio State visit. Here was our interview with Sensabaugh:
Q: What were some of your general thoughts on your visit to Ohio State?
Sensabaugh: “It was a good time with the football game and with the staff and the team. It was a good time for sure.
“I hung out with Eugene Brown, E.J. Liddell, Malaki Branham and Meechie Johnson the most. It was a great time and it felt super natural. In terms of what they have to offer, they mentioned to me a bunch how they have a bunch of guys graduating and leaving, especially at my position. That could create some opportunity there for me.”
Q: How do you feel your game could translate to the college level?
Sensabaugh: “I feel like I could bring some scoring and contribute early. There will be areas where I will have to improve for my game to translate to the next level. I know I would have to work at it, but I think I could fill a role.”
Q: It sounds like you played well with the E1T1 team and with Bruce Thornton. How was that experience?
Sensabaugh: “Playing with Bruce, it was a great time. We obviously had a lot of success at the Peach Jam. He is a pass first point guard who can get a bucket at any time. He has a super high assist-to-turnover ratio. He doesn’t turn the ball over. I had a great time playing with him.
“Obviously, coming in there were super high stakes playing against the best players in the country. I took it one day at a time. All of the games were super competitive in the Nike EYBL. We had a lot of preparation coming into it. We built chemistry pretty fast over the spring. It was a lot of hard work. It was pretty easy playing with my guys there to do what I did.”
Q: What was it like to attend the game at Ohio Stadium?
Sensabaugh: “I’m from Ohio and I know the fan culture up there for basketball and football is crazy. They were playing a nonconference game and there were still 80,000 people there. It was crazy.”
Q: Regarding your past in Ohio, did you live in the state and do you have family in Ohio?
Sensabaugh: “I was born in Cincinnati. I lived there for 4-1/2 or five years. We moved to Orlando after that. My dad is actually from Columbus. His family is still there and I have some friends in Cincinnati still, too.”
Q: You’ve made visits to Georgia Tech, Alabama and Ohio State. Are you planning any other visits?
Sensabaugh: “I’m done with visits. That’s it.”
Q: So those three as well as Florida are your top four schools right now? Do you know when you may decide?
Sensabaugh: “That’s my top four. I’m just going to go on feel. Whenever it feels right, I’m going to make the decision.”
Q: What are some of your thoughts on Florida?
Sensabaugh: “I’ve been to Florida unofficially this year. I’ve seen the campus multiple times. It’s my home state school. It’s another great school and great academically. All of these schools are great academic schools. They recruit a lot of Florida guys. They expressed their need for me and the opportunity I would have.”
Q: What do you see with Alabama?
Sensabaugh: “I like their style of play and the big role I could have there. They are graduating a lot of guys, too. I feel like whatever happens, I could come in there and make an impact. Mainly the schools I have narrowed it down to, there is a pattern of great opportunity for me.”
Q: What appeals to you about Georgia Tech?
Sensabaugh: “They kind of recruited me a little bit earlier, at least in terms of the four schools I have left. The head coach (Josh Pastner) was really my head recruiter. He expressed his need for me and how important it was for them to get me. That sets them apart from the other schools I had to cut.”
Q: And last thing, what was maybe the highlight of your time at Ohio State?
Sensabaugh: “I think the family environment was probably the main thing. It’s home, too. Those two things hit me. I felt comfortable on the campus.”

Rylan Griffen stays busy, takes visits as he eyes a decision
Rylan Griffen’s recruitment has been a heated one for quite some time with top college basketball programs from all over the country jumping into the mix to recruit him. With his senior year of high school now underway, he’s in the process of taking visits and working towards a decision.
During the summer, he made stops at Kansas State and Oklahoma State. This past weekend, he took an official visit to Georgia. On Oct. 1, he heads north to see Kansas. After he sees the Jayhawks, he has three more official visits to use and plans to do just that. Alabama, Arizona State, Auburn, Cal, NC State and Oklahoma remain in the mix.
IN HIS OWN WORDS
Alabama: “They came to my school. Coach (Nate) Oats watched me work out last Friday. (Assistant) coach (Bryan) Hodgson always tells me how they need as many guards as possible. I like the plan they have for me if I go there. They think I can help them and think they can help me get where I want to go. They are intriguing right now.”
Auburn: “I actually don’t know too much about them yet. Coach (Allen) Flanigan is really funny. Every time I talk to him we get a good laugh. They are doing well at getting guys to the league. It’s in the SEC and I have friends going to the SEC it’d be cool to play against.”
Georgia: “I know Anthony Edwards went there. They are on the come up. They are supposed to be better this year. They hit the portal hard this year. They said if they miss on recruits, they just go to the portal to get better. My coach calls coach (Tom) Crean a mad scientist. He came to visit and just started taking notes on everything immediately. He watches everything.”
Kansas: “I actually just met with coach (Bill) Self and (assistant) coach (Jeremy) Case recently. They kept it real with me. They said they like how I can shoot it and they think I’m one of the best shooters in the nation. They (think) my length and athleticism is perfect for the Big 12 and that I complement the guys they already have.”
Kansas State: “Coach (Bruce) Weber is one of the nicest dudes I’ve ever met. I’ve never heard anybody say anything negative about him. He’s already been by my school twice lately, and he’s really cool. Coach (Shane) Southwell is one of the coolest coaches I’ve met, too.”
Oklahoma State: “(Assistant) coach (Terrence) Rencher was recruiting me at Creighton, and he’s stayed recruiting me since he got to Oklahoma State. They just had Cade Cunningham from my area. Avery Anderson is projected to be a pro, too. That’s just a good program.”
RIVALS’ REACTION
Griffen is aiming to get his college decision out of the way before his senior season starts in November, but he doesn’t have a real timeline in mind beyond that. His upcoming visit to Kansas will be a key one to watch, as will the likely visit he takes to Alabama at some point. Georgia, Kansas State and Oklahoma State have all made strong impressions as well on his visits. The school that is able to get him signed in November will be getting one of the top shooters in the class, and he will bring great size to the backcourt.
