Where do you guys think JD gets drafted if he has a good year? I have seen him in some mocks at around 15. Sharife Cooper is allegedly gonna go in the top 20 this yer and JD seems like a much better pro prospect to me, bigger, can shoot better, way more athletic. I think JD has top 10 potential for sure.

yea i could see a world where in like 5 years and frenchies long been kickin it in the nba, people being like yea that dude probably shouldve gone number 1 when he initially got drafted. kinda like how giannis was only like 15th or something because of how raw and young he was. just dreaming up a storm at this point but yea, tchikou really does have all the tools to become a great nba big man.

I would love for him to go number 1, that would mean he had a great season, and if he does I think we have NC potantilal with our group of guards.

no doubt a frenchie hitting his stride to go with our guards makes us a legit contender. weve all said it and we all see it but the potential of this team really is damn scary.

Shaedon Sharpe has 7 CB's and they are all "high" for UK.

I’m happy for Primo, but damn I’m sad as hell too. So many tools in his arsenal. I truly believe his sophomore season was going to be a Top 5 individual season all-time for a Bama basketball player.

If Josh Primo ends up going in the second round do you guys think he made a good decision to leave early?
These are two recent mocks I was looking at and neither had Primo going in the first round.
CBS
SB Nation
Yahoo has him going 30th, the last pick in the first round.
Yahoo
A lot of the new mocks are premium so I cant see them, I hope he goes in the first round.

Then he made a not great decision. The difference between the guaranteed first round money and second round is huge. I hope he got some very solid indications that he’s a late first rounder. Otherwise, Bama and Josh would have both been better off with him returning.

For us it's probably not gonna make much of a difference. If we had gotten Primo back Shack was gonna transfer, is there much of a production difference between a 18 year old Josh Primo and a 21 yer old Jaden Shackelford? Probably not. Is Primo's ceiling infinitely higher from an NBA prospective than Shack's? Absolutley.
I do hope Primo goes in the first round, it would be a good thing for our recruiting. However it seems like if he had came back he wouldve no doubt been a top 15 pick next year with a good season.

no fren i have to disagree with that. defense, shooting, and position versatility arguably made primo better than shack was even last season. he just saw less minutes. shack is an excellent college player whos great for our system, but primo got the nba feedback he needed for a reason. like i said long ago if primo stayed we wouldve been completely OP. like, lose less than 5 games kind of OP. now without him we can still be the team to beat, but things are much more interesting and less guaranteed, to me atleast.

I cant disagree with much of what you said, and I do think long term that Primo's upside is very high, much higher than Shack's but...
Shack averaged 20.5 points 6 rebounds and 2 assists per 40 minutes last year.
Primo averaged 15 points 6 rebounds and 2 assists per 40 minutes last year.
Is Primo more versatile? Yes. Would I trade Shack for another year of Primo? Yes, and I love Shack, but I dont think it would make a big difference for us either way.
Shack is more experienced and experience can matter a great deal.

well id need a real junky to bother you with things like efficiency and defensive analytics, but i am going mostly on my own assumption of primo taking a big leap into his sophomore year from how he was as a freshman.
i will say offensively shack also has the potential to really up his numbers as well, so in that regard i dont disagree.
i mean ive seen few here pitch our potential to be a real contender regardless of the scenario more than you or i here so, were really not on that different pages here.

Well I think everyone here would choose Primo over Shack but I am thankful we got one of them back at least.

ofcourse! i really do like the prospect of a junior shack feasting off the attention jq and jd will bring. jd's court vision really should be talked about more. its one of those special gifts that cant really be taught. if he can refine that enough to go along with jq's insanity...insane! i should also point out shack was by no means a bad defender last season. so if jd can also surprise us (as he does have the ability) and really lock in on that end as well then i really see just our perimeter D still being very respectable.
now our bigs have the potential to bring a much greater impact on D with their mobility and rim protection than what we got last year, esp tchikou. so even if we dip some defensively with our guards we still have tchikou, gurley, gary, and bediako (i havent forgot you either kah) to make up the difference.
to shorten the rant ill just end with pretty grateful myself on how the teams looking, as well as how i expect things to go.

Primo over Shack in the long run for sure but one of those players disappeared for about 10 games last year and one didn't. I'm glad to have Shack back. It's a big deal.

so you'd rather have the one that the pro's don't want, hmm... not me. hope i'm wrong on this. but i see a kid that's gonna try to shoot his way onto a pro roster at the expense of the team he's on.

This has just been one of those casual Rodney Rice games.
22 points, 8/9 shooting - connected on 5/5 (100%) three-point attempts. Also has grabbed three boards. Pure touch, one of the best scorers in the 2022 class.
Bama, Louisville, Maryland, Georgetown, V-Tech, ND, in mix.

Rice finished up with 25 PTS (9-18 FG, 6-13 3PT) and 3 boards in the Team Durant loss. Brad Beal Elite is now the only team standing with Alabama targets (Nick Smith and Brandon Miller) I believe.
