Top 10 newcomers to the 2022 rankings
quote:
CHANDLER JACKSON, CG
Debut ranking: 56.
Recruitment:Chandler took a recent visit to Missouri this week and a recent official visit to Auburn. He holds offers from Alabama, Florida State and Memphis among others.
How he earned his ranking: Making his debut into the top 60, 6-foot-4, 205-pound combo guard Chandler Jackson from Memphis (Tenn.) has good size for the position and has emerged as a top two way player. Jackson is great at using physical strength and length on both sides of the ball and can score the ball in a variety of ways making him one of the most sought after guards in the class.
quote:
NOAH CLOWNEY, PF
Debut ranking: 117.
Recruitment: Holds offers from Indiana, Alabama, Virginia Tech and South Carolina among others.
How he earned his ranking: Once a three star prospect, Roebuck (S.C.) Dorman 6-foot-9, pound power forward Noah Clowney has elevated himself to four-star status. What stands out about Clowney immediately is his long arms and frame. Clowney moves very well and is very active on the glass and on the defensive side of the ball. Clowney's stock has really started to rise over the past few months and if he can be consistently productive in front of coaches during the month of July then he could see his name moving up the list.

With the NBA combine wrapped up and less than a week until the NCAA’s July 7 withdrawal deadline, a number of prominent college players are facing career decisions that will impact the broader landscape of the sport next season. On Tuesday, I highlighted a number of prospects who improved their draft stock from an NBA perspective. Now, we’ll dive into this from a college angle, looking at the situations of the top players who appear to still be on the fence as the NCAA’s deadline approaches.
Class year represents the player's most recently completed NCAA season.
quote:
Joshua Primo, Alabama | Freshman
Jaden Shackelford, Alabama | Sophomore
Primo was one of the big winners of the combine, performing well in drills and five-on-five and successfully showcasing a more well-rounded game than was readily apparent in a supporting role at Alabama. He’s the youngest draft-eligible prospect, and was primarily a spot-up shooter for the Crimson Tide, but it’s clear now that he has a lot more to offer in the way of ball skills and decision-making potential. NBA teams have been intrigued by Primo dating back to the 2019 Basketball Without Borders Camp, and he’s trending toward the first round of the draft right now. As a business decision, it would make sense for him to capitalize on his rising stock and develop in the pros next year.
Alabama should be in decent shape even if Primo leaves, with freshman JD Davison and Texas Tech transfer Nimari Burnett set to join Jahvon Quinerly in a loaded backcourt. It seems like Shackelford should join them, as he did not receive an invitation to the G League Elite Camp, signaling minimal interest from NBA teams. The Crimson Tide are loaded regardless, and should again be among the favorites in the SEC.

I wondered as well, but didn't see it confirmed anywhere on a 30 second Google search.

Would love him. He had 26pts vs Baylor last season.
He is a Super Senior. Do transfer Super Seniors count against the scholarship numbers?

Early on, I had Primo staying in the draft. I think if Primo came back, Shack was going to transfer. Pretty sure Primo would have taken some of Shack's minutes this season if they both returned.
With our loaded roster, his minute numbers may still decrease should he return. I wouldn't rule out a return out West for Shack though.

BTW: July 1 is also an important deadline for transfers seeking one-time immediate eligibility this fall.
Athletes have to provide written notification of transfer by tomorrow to compete at their new school during the coming academic year.
Shack has to enter his name in the portal by midnight tonight if he is transferring.

Marcus Carr is expected to withdraw from the 2021 NBA Draft and return to college next season, per his mentor Vidal Massiah.
Carr is also in the transfer portal and will be one of the highest sought after transfers if he decides to leave Minnesota.
Oh, that's a pretty big one.

Another solid player hitting the portal really late.

Marcus Carr
His production last year reminds me a little of Cam Thomas', Carr averaged 16 shot attempts per game last year and Thomas averaged 17 a game. Thomas' 2P% and 3P% were slightly higher than Carr's.
